The Guinness Premiership Thread
Posted by: Chillkram on 12 January 2007
As we have a football thread I think we need a Guinness Premiership thread as well in the run up to Wasps taking revenge at Welford Road in April.
Details can be found here on the season so far.
Remember, Wasps are the play off kings!

Crikey! I wouldn't be surprised PB. It's not looking good for FF. It's going to be a miserable half-time pie and pint for him!

Hows it going FF?

Oh dear!

For those - like me - without the benefit of Sky, you can get live coverage here. I imagine the link may remain good for the repeat next week, vs Wasps.

Glad to see we are being softened up
BTW, what is the record score in the Premiership final?

The Cherry and Whites are obviously just trying to lull the Todgers in to a false sense of security against Wasps! A slightly different tactic and very generous of them!

What you are trying to say Mark, is Tigers were just to good for them.

To be fair, PB, it has been a close game, but yes, Tigers have probably just pipped it!

Posted on: 12 May 2007 by JWM
44-16 Close game then - only marginally closer than Tigers v Pests on 28th April 40-26.

You won't be so lucky next week!

Well I wouldn't like to stop him next week

WASPS may have a sting in the tail - but you never grab a tiger by it's tail..
Far to strong a sqaud - if the same team plays as it did today the tripple is on - and lets face it they are doing it for each other -
Wasps are a good side on the day, but Tigers will roll them over

Congratulations to Leicester Tigers on winning the Guinness Premiership for the first time. Yet again the top team did not win, but it's hard to say it wasn't the best team. Today was an awesome display of powerful, incisive rugby and, as Barnesy said in commentary, there are few teams in the northern hemisphere that would have coped with them today.
Overall, they probably have been the best team this season and only a wobble towards the end prevented them from finishing top.
Well done Tigers.
Mark
ps. Let's just wait and see what Doolallio and co. can do next week!

Sorry Mark but if they play the way they did this afternoon then it won't even be close.
Everyone played at the top of their game today and they were unstopable. That was probably the most complete game of Rugby a premiership side has ever played.

Of course you're right, PB, but we can't let you Tigers win everything this year, can we?!!

Here's hoping that was a one-off performance!
And, by the way, that's the only concession any of you Tigers will get from me between now and next Sunday, when I fully expect that James will be buying the beers!

Hi James
Now I don't know whether they will either play out of their skins on Saturday or freeze.
What ever happens this young home grown talent deserve some recognition, for what they have achieved under Dean Ryan this season.

Well we set off with lots of expectation this morning.
I did say from a previous posting that they would either play or freeze.
I have to say the Tigers demolished them at Twickenham this afternoon, they were like rabbits caught in a car head lights, they stood and watched, could not tackle.
This was a massive disappointment to the travelling fans who out numbered the Tigers fans 2-1 if not 3-1, yet we did not perform until the last five minutes of the game.
I have been quite vocal in support of my team, but on the day the Tigers were quite special in ALL departments.
I hope they do the treble, and they should do it if they play the same way next week as they did today. For some reason Glaws fans don't like the Wasps, and sportingly wish the Tigers well.
I am sure that Glaws will have learnt something from today, however to finish top of the league over a season can't be taken away from them, even if they were not at the races today

It is only a game

A very enjoyable game.
You were unlucky today FF, you met a team who were at the top of their game. Congratulations on a very sporting last post, it must have been difficult when as you say expectations were high in the morning.
I think Gloucester were blow away after a devistating last ten minutes to the first half by leicester. They did well not to completely crumble and give away 50 or even 60 points. Maybe if there wasn't a match next Sunday the first team would have stayed on the field and finished the job off.
A good side would learn from this afternoon and I hope Gloucester do learn from it and come back even better next year,
regards

We did have the pleasure of watching the first half of EDF Energy Junior Vase Final at Twickenham where Hartpury College were playing Billericay in the final. Score 22-7 HT
We had to leave the match at half time to get the coach home, the quality of the Gloucestershire teams handling skills were fantastic.
I have just looked up the result and our local Hartpury College side won 72-12, so as GLAWS used their training facilities at the College we know we have a good future.
I am sure that some of the younger members of the GLAWS team will learn from this experience at Twickenham, and mature into the same calibre of players that now play for the Tigers.
Am I down hearted NO WAY

I will apply for my 2007/8 season ticket, because I realise just how good the team can become into the future as they grow and develop
