Porcupine Tree - indigO2, October 19th

Posted by: markah on 06 October 2008

I remember from another thread that there are a few forum members going to this concert in a couple of weeks time. I was wondering if anyone fancies meeting up beforehand, perhaps for a drink/something to eat? I'm travelling down by train (only about 6/7 hours or something all told on a Sunday!) and should be in the area by around 3pm.
I'll be staying overnight at the Docklands Travelodge and I believe there is someone else from the forum there who is going to this gig, so if you fancy meeting up drop me a line.

Regards to all,

Mark

Mark,

I would be up for a meal before the show. There are lots of good places to eat at O2. I met up with Denis A not so long ago at the No-Man gig and we were going to meet again at PT, so hopefully Denis will be able to join as well. I will probably get there at 6ish. If there is a gig on in the main arena on the same night, then it gets quite crowded so we may need to see if we can make a booking. I am looking forward to what should be a very good show.

Cheers

I'm taking SWMBO along to this gig - I'd be happy to meet up too!

Might not be able to make it there by 3.00pm but let me know where you'll be & we'll come & find you.

(I'm easily recognised. I'll be wearing a "T" shirt, jeans and trainers).

Adrian (& Tony),
Yes, we were there last week and as you say there are plenty of decent places to eat. On the Monday evening there were no shows on and the place was dead, they were virtually dragging us into the eateries it was so quiet! Come Tuesday night and the Stevie Wonder concert it was a different story - when we arrived at about 5/5.30pm it wasn't too bad but an hour later everywhere was getting full. I don't think it will be too bad for PT as there isn't anything on in the main arena that night.
The 3 o'clock figure is just a guide as to when I will be at the hotel (5 mins away) - we can fix something up if/when more replies come in.
Look forward to meeting you all, and hopefully DenisA.
Regards,

Mark

Sally and I are also going. Never been to this venue so don't know what's there. We are going to the Dr Who exhibition in the morning and a general wander about so we could be over around 17:00. Mail addy in profile if required.

Mark,

Looking forward to meeting you & the rest of the members. If you want to contact me, see my profile & we can exchange mobile's. I thought Seagul mentioned he was attending as well, so there should be quite a gathering. It would be good to bump into Gary Shaw Winker again, but he has been quiet of late. Aiming to arrive between 5-6PM.

It will be good to see you again and thanks for your kind words.

I will indeed be swooping in with a friend.

As is our custom, we'll almost certainly be visiting a hostelry or two on the way so I don't know what time we'll arrive at the O2.

p.s. Insurgentes now on order (4x10") though I daresay that will get hi-jacked and placed in my Xmas pile. Oh well - it's my birthday soon so some of my other recent purchases will see the light of day again Roll Eyes

Hi Seagull,

Apologies for the spilling mishtake and thanks for the Insurgentes note. Unsurprisingly I have ordered both the CD/DVDA & Vinyl sets. Looking forward to meeting you on what should be a memorable night.

"September saw more writing and rehearsing, then the last couple weeks have been spent getting back in shape for the Porcupine Tree DVD tour. We are digging deep into the back catalogue for the filming, so there was quite a bit of work to be done as the set list is almost double what we normally tackle".

Setlist for first two gigs in Portugal is out on the Porcupine Tree Forum under the gigs section. Some good tracks and they played the track Normal - that will please quite a few fans Smile

Especially you Adrian, as they never played it in Sydney! Frown By the way, you have mail.

Just out of interest, who out of us all is standing and who is seated for this gig on the 19th? I'm standing.

Mark

P.S. "ightenhill" - are you out there??

Jeez that's helpful the only bloody tube line that goes there.

Replacement bus service running from West Ham (30mins)to North Greenwich.
I am not sure if that would be the best place to pick up the tube network, the only time I have used the DLR it seemed an age between trains, perhaps if anyone has regular usage information could advise?

So are we Howard.

It's a real pain, this Tube problem. The DLR service is pretty flaky - I'm thinking of driving there instead of going by train.

Has anyone been there by car before? I'd imagine there should be plenty of car parking spaces as there's nothing on in the main arena that night.

Several large car parks a few hundred yards from the venue.

Thanks for all the replies and phone calls. It looks like a meet up for those who can make it in the Slug And Lettuce pub at about 5-5.30pm, followed by a meal at Water Margin (Chinese Buffet) around 6pm. Looking forward to a great night of friendship and music.

Regards to all,

Anyway, I'll be sat in the corner reading the Sunday Sport and drinking pints of vodka and Red Bull - should free up the seats in the area so you'll all have somewhere to sit!
