I've never been a fan, although they're certainly not bad and I dig their musical premise ... it's just that I've heard better versions of that premise, such as Jonatha Brooke, Shawn Colvin, etc.

But I heard a song on the radio, Perfect World, off their new album, and I have to say it was very good.

Just received my copy from Mr Amazon and played it last night. You never really know how good an Indigo girls album is until you have heard it half a dozen times. I've always wondered why this is so often the case with "keepers" and last night I came up with a theory. I put the CD on and picked up a guitar and started playing along. Now with 99% of (non-jazz) music I can pretty much nail most the chords first time through because MOST music follows a pretty well-worn path in terms of chord progression and key change but with the Indigo girls it's bloody hard to predict what is going to happen next. Your ear tells you that a change is due but things stay put, or things suddenly soften up and go all minor when it feels like exactly the opposite is about to happen.

Anyway, most great albums only give you a few hints of their greatness on the first run through, but this one gave me a wee "pang" on almost every track, so I think it's going to be a good-un. Smile

P.S. Thanks for the tip-off Matt.
