Quadraspire Reference

Apologies if I have miss-spelt the name! I have just recieved a brochure on this gear and it looks the part as well as having a good sonic reputation. What is bugging me is how it works with half-case equipment like the Hi-cap or Lingo? Is it able to support these items? This is perhaps a silly question but I may have to order it direct and obviously I do not want any problems.

That hole is pretty big! My QS Ref is an early holeless one. I am going to get all the shelves done bar the one that my phono stage sits on as its tiny and would end up sitting on the Nait below… I may be daft, but I am not quite daft enough to pay out for a shelf and not use it! Narrow kit such as the Nait 1 & 2, Lingo, Naim tuners etc should be long enough to sit over the hole, even though the hole will be visible at the sides. I will post once I get my shelves, which hopefully should not be long - they are possibly even at the shop by now, I just need to co-ordinate a lift sometime to get them.

Thanks for the input on this one. The Quadraspire seems to be the best compromise between looks, price and performance. I will try and get an auditon at a dealers, preferably one with naim kit! Another question, do you have to buy it in 4-shelf blocks? Two three shelfers would be best for my current set up.

The Q4 Reference comprises of four shelves, though the bottom shelf is not really intended to be used as it is the one that provides the rigidity. Using it like this means that it is effectively only three shelves. People who know me will be well aware that I am far to stingy to go down this route, so I have used the bottom shelf for my P9 PSU, I figured that as it is not in the signal path it is less critical.

All the QS stuff is available on a buy component basis, so building any format you want is possible. Its kind of neat to be able to add levels as new kit arrives and also be able to split a large rack into two for the price of a set of floor spikes. It’s a nice logical design.

"The Quadraspire seems to be the best compromise between looks, price and performance".

As in ok looks, ok price, ok performance - sounds like a car you would not fall in love with!

You could have a point Simon but I just refuse to be brain washed into thinking that fraim is the only answer. Regarding the number of shelves, the brochure I have seems to suggest four actual shelves, I will have another look.

No offence intended, just playing.

Simon I was not offended. Has anybody tried the quadspire wall shelf with an LP12?

I was in my dealer's on Saturday and they had a QS wallshelf, and it didn't really look all that strong! Do they come in reference fittings, by the way.

Another thing - I'm not going to buy one or anything, but I'm curious to find out if it's possible to have a multiple tier wallshelf, 'cause the fittings looked similar to the regular rack, and so maybe people with external TT psus could house them below... just a little question that popped up.

The reference has a base level plus four useable shelfs.
The wall shelf does use the same fittings and spacing as the table, so in theory I guess you could do a two tier wall shelf.
I've ordered a five tier rack, and a reference wall shelf for the LP12, but delivery is not due for another three weeks, so can't comment yet on how well it works.
I bought it because I was impressed by the sound of the table, and don't have room for two racks.

So, how do you guys cope with those big holes in the shelves? I mean, has anyone done a comparative demo between gapped and non-gapped shelves? More to the point, can the shelves be mixed?

I wonder if my soundstages could be thus modified.... not that I'm going to try...!!
