Kasabian - Glastonbury 2005

Just listening/watching Kasabian - seem rather good. I seem to recognise a few riffs - mid seventies...
Anybody know anything about them? Anybody recommended recordings?

self titled cd called kasabian funny enough.
sound like they are from the manchester scene in the early nineties.
i brought the cd a while ago and it didnt really reach my expectations but in saying that there are a couple of killer tracks.

Kasabian were OK, better live obviously than on record.
Kaiser Chiefs were ace, the best thing I've seen so far this weekend.
Jools Holland was predictably shit. He always is though. I can't believe someone's got so far on so little talent.

I have to disagree on that one. Years ago (when he was still on The Tube) Jools played a set at a big University function I helped to organise. He was just fantastic, with a show that entertained people all night. He played for nearly 3 hours by coming back on after a break just for the hell of it. He, and his team, were the most relaxed and decent band we ever booked over 3 years of running these functions. He even wrote to us later to thank us for a good night!
I'd never buy his music recorded but he was a great entertainer that night. 'Later' is also the only music TV I'd even think about watching so perhaps we should thank him for that too.

I thought Kasabian were alright - noticably better than most of the bands who I thought were disgraceful.
Coldplay seemed far better than most of the crap, Kasabian pretty good, Basment Jaxx rocked, but so many others simply CANNOT sing, some of the bands were as loose as any pre-teen garage band. Dreadful.
When you look back at live "stadium" bands such as U2, Queen etc. even if you don't like their music, at least you can see that they can (could) perform extremely well live.
As I say, most of the Glastonbury coverage amazed me at the simply disturbingly low level of raw talent.
Jools Holland is great - I have seen him both with Squeeze (all those years ago) and solo and he is a great entertainer. I would say he is extremely talented with a very broad based musical background/knowledge.
At least he sang pretty well in tune at Glastonbury, unlike too many others.

Yes - I'm 25 and this is my first post here ( my dad has a Naim system and posts regularly -so introduced me!) I thought Brian Wilson was the best !!!!!!!!! ...It also greatly disappointed me that the John Butler Trio were not profiled on TV coverage - they were clearly one of the best bands playing at Glastonbury - and yet no sign . Shame!

Well I bought the Kasabian cd this afternoon. Played it in the car on the way home. Not bad at all. Will be playing it again tomorrow morning - there seem to be a number of good tracks and none that stuck out as being bad. Very promising.

I loved their single ! It's cool ...haven't bought the album , I borrowed it from a friend and I wasn't sure - I think the sound quality was quite bad - but I think it's supposed to sound that way - edgy ! I might give it a few more listens....
Just ordered The Killers after seeing them perform live at Glastonbury this weekend.
