Nude Dynavector

Has anyone else done this modification and found any improvements?
After reading on another forum about the sonic benefits of removing the plastic body of the Dynavector 10X4MK-2 I got to work (carefully) with my pliers and soon my cartridge was nude (and looking fragile) but other designs are open so no problem.

The problem started when attempting to balance the Itok LVII to set the tracking weight, the cartridge is just not heavy enough without the plastic cover. I added a spare pair of mounting nuts but still not enough weight.

Do I ignore the lack of weight and balance the arm first by increasing the tracking weight until the arm is horizontal and then add this to the normal tracking weight?

Add mass to the headshell end somehow (more extra nuts, blue tack?)

Forget the idea and refit the cover.

Any ideas? John.

John,

my Dynavector is shown below, and just look at how fragile those lead-out wires are.

Are yours as thin?

cheers, Martin

BTW, I guess Dynavector approve of the general principal, since they do it on the TeKaitora.

I'd suggest blutak, or some such to make up the weight.

It's also worth noting that arms work best with a cartridge (+ blutak?) within a certain weight range, so you may need to do this for best performance anyway.
