Has anyone heard of "Undigitize"?

Just curious if anyone here has heard of these guys called "Undigitize" here in the US. They claim to have some super top secret process that makes your CD's sound way better. They take your disc, process it and re burn to a black CDR.
Curiosity bit me so, I gave it a try. I sent them two discs. The new MoFi Frank Sinatra that sounds quite good and an old CD of Carole King's Tapestry that sounds dreadful, seeing what they could do.
These guys are very secretive and there is no name, or phone number. They respond to emails with "We...", so I feel like I'm talking to the Borg collective.
I'm guessing this is probably BS, but I'll report back when/if I get my discs.

If I was being really cynical, I'd say it is just a way for these guys to get you to pay for them to steal your music. It's a bit like those offering to rip to HD as a service. Well why WOULDN'T you keep a copy for yourself? Oh, that's why - it's illegal.
But you never know though, these guys ("We") might be able to put a bit of "analogey goodness" into the waveforms. Maybe take it through a nice valve pre-amp. What's for sure though is that they're can't create something from nothing - whatever they do is distortion. Nice sounding distortion perhaps, but distortion nonetheless.
I shall await your report before engaging in additional uninformed speculation (although it is always fun to do so).

I just checked out their website. Undigitize Quite strange. I couldn't figure out how to actually use the service, only how to pay for it. Did you have to e-mail them for the shipping address? I couldn't find it on the site.
I'm not sure that copying like that for commercial purposes is legal. Surely this falls outside of fair use provisions.
They're not getting any of my cash just yet.

I agree the site is very vague but from what I can gather you send in a disc for them to work on it.
Wonder if the majors know about that as it is illegal to copy a disc.

Sorry but this looks a bit stinky to me. 50 bucks per cd? It'll be interesting to see what your verdict is.

Well, I am very skeptical. I now have a phone number, but still no one is responding to me that has a name.
The fellow on the other end sounded a bit nervous after he gave me the big pitch. I told him that I would be A-B ing the discs on a Naim CD555...
I am supposed to be getting these back next week and remain ever skeptical. My buddies at Mobile Fidelity have said they will take a look at the new disc.
Hmmmm.

Weird I wonder what they will do to the discs?

You might find it interesting to do a whois on the domain name and then a google search on the PO Box and address.

Did anybody ever find out what this is about?

you send them your cd, which must be a commercially produced original, and they send it back along with a copy they produced.
the copy is supposed to have a true analog sound.
each copy they make cost $$$$.
sounds like snake oil, and the website is very sketchy.

Yes but I was wondering if anybody had been through the process and could comment on the result or is it indeed the con it appears to be?
Has Tonepub received his two CDs back yet?

It's a total CON.
Got the disks back and no one could hear the diff.
I even baited one of my friends, telling him that the original was the treated disc, seeing if he would say "Wow, that one sounds a lot better"...
Everyone came back with the same conclusion, that they couldn't hear a thing. And that's with using a 555 as a source. I guarantee that if you can't hear it on a 555, you aren't going to hear it on something lesser.
I reported my findings out on Audio Circle a few days ago and then the Undigitize people pulled the ultimate weasel move...
They sent me a note saying that something was done wrong with my discs and what I really need to do is to send them back again and have them done over.
Don't spend any of your money on this! Total snake oil.
I am going to send them back, get another copy and then send the originals and copies to my friends at Mobile Fidelity to analyze on a digital workstation.
I'll keep you posted, but for now, avoid this one!

Tonepub,
I think you've just confirmed what everybody expected i.e. it's a rip off. I can't believe it's just about conning you out of the money for the so-called new disks, but have you made sure nothing untoward is happening on your credit cards?
I look forward to hearing what happens.
