Like Nick Cave (especially Boatman's Call)?

Then get the new album by Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan 'Ballad Of The Broken Seas'

Great record, the almost Cave/Leonard Cohen grumbing of Lanegan plus the sweetness of Campbell on tracks that have a distinct gothic country feel. Echoes of American miserablists Willard Grant, and almost the more countrified elements of Jack White. Another reference would be the Cave/Minogue duet.

Sample on website here is a pretty good taste of the album.

A real cracker.

It's on the list.

Your discription sounds promising and I like the samples

Greeny!

Our tastes overlap frequently. I promise you will be pleased.

Have you tried the Jenny Lewis album too? I'm also slowly but surely realising why Surfjan Stevens 'Illinoise' was Pitchforkmedia's album of 2006 (and 'Michigan' is pretty good too).

Hi Bruce.

No I hav'nt got thye jenny lewis album (or in fact heard anything about it!!) but I'll keep my eyes open.

I have Seven Swans by Surfjan Stevens, and whilst it's Ok it's not really encouraged me to buy any more of his. So 'Illinoise' will have to wait.
