Was this the original yellow version of the Haddock arm or the the one with the bread-crumb textured finish.

I think the word you're looking for is 'typo'.

Try Hadcock. Unipivot arm retails for around £600 nowadays. Had a few problems back in the 80's (?) but essentially a good arm.

But would you really want a PT?

I have a Hadcock 242SE on an Orbe, and it's a great arm, albeit a royal pain to get setup right. Took me several days before I managed to get it to stay in tune for longer than an hour at a time. I'm glad I persevered, because the results are worth it.

The arms come in a bewildering array of wiring options, with prices from around £600 to £900.

The ARO is based on Hadcock designs, FWIW.

It's likely a 242 or a 228. Len Gregory, http://www.thecartridgeman.com/ is the man to ask, he services these arms and knows all about them.

I heard a PT a couple of weeks ago that belongs to Neil Mason who posts on this forum. It sounded pretty good to me but it was only a brief listen. You should perhaps try to contact him (see the Why Make Another FM Tuna? thread).

Hi minime. I heard one Pink Triangle (PT TOO if I remember correctly) many years ago and it was an excellent turntable. Cant remember what arm and cartridge was used though, possibly a Helius arm but I'm not sure. Anyway we compared it with a Lp12/Ittok and a Voyd tt in about the same pricerange. Different ways of making music for sure but all of them were good. I'm a bit surprised at Frank Abelas comment, I belived Pink Triangle's tt's had a good reputation. Care to explain further Frank? Maybe some problems with spares or build quality?

The PT turntables sound superb.I have owned a TOO for fifteen years and prefer it to an LP12.
The build quality on my Anniversary is stunning, but the Export is not so good...PT TOO is fine though.......

I find PT turntables terminally boring. They're good transcriptors but are about as engaging as a wet fish in my view. IIRC the one I liked most was an LPT.

The company went through some doldrums in the nineties, but they seem to be back in business with a bang with their new amplifier which is a very nice bit of kit indeed, if a bit jewellery (this from a Chord man!). The people who work at PT are very committed to their products and the company has a very human face to it - nice people.

guess that rules that out then.
the turntable is the export blue marble and the arm is the 242se.a good arm iv'e been told but yet to hear £450 seems quite resonable though.
