Build quality

I´m intersted in Exposure 2010 cdp but today I was reading What Hi-fi and it gives 3 stars to build quality and 5 stars to sound!Should I forget build and go for the sound or build is important and why?

I see you didn´t read all my posts. So I remenber you!I heard Júpiter in a Comb. Chord pre/power and it seems has dynamics and speed. In my Nait I didn´t notice this characteristics! So I decide that Jùpiter in my sistem has no synergies!Exposure is a good cd player for 600£.But a Nait 5 needs more...

Nuno - I can't decide BUT I want the 'Naim sound'..................
CD3.5 will give you' the Naim sound' and it is available second hand well within your budget - go for it. . The CD5 is more expensive.

Why not? I think that Exposure is not good enougth,we all agree,
and cd 3.5 has the devaluation for my budget.
I heard cd 5 and it´s a really fine player! And I think CD 3.5 sound is not so far ...

If you like the CD5 the 3.5 is good too, but it's different...
I prefered a 3.5 over a Linn Ikemi (£1950) and promptly ordered one [yes Mick, I said "promptly" ] , but then the 5 series was launched, and my dealer advised me to wait until I could audition a new CD5.
Personally, I prefered the CD5, so bought that instead, even though I could probably have got the 3.5 at a discount.
I later sold my CD5 (and Flatcap 2) for £1100
Regards,
Steve.

Nuno, are you 13?
This is a terribly long time to be deciding over a cd player.
Do you have to check the door is locked many times before you leave the house?
Did you leave that iron on?
Will you or won't you go out for a pint?
Which pint will you have?
Or perhaps whisky?
Whisky is nice isn't it?
Isn't it?
What about the door?
What about that iron?
What about that pint?
Cd player, whats that?
You need a nice CD player?
Don't you?
CD Player?

Terry,
you're very kind, but it's useless. Nuño could've had Geoff's s/h CD5 virtually delivered to his doorstep for a good price and he didn't do it.
Same goes for the 3.5. He'll say "Yes, maybe I'll do it." But he won't.
He's not here to figure out a way to get a CD player (and, sorry, we're talking about fairly doable / affordable pieces).
Best thing would be - if the price was a problem - if he worked a little harder and got the money, but that doesn't seem to be the issue either. Every time it's something else. This time it's build quality; next time is some kind of allergy or whatever. I really don't want to be here by the time he gets to discuss stands (prior to buying the CDP, obviously). It's all bogus.
The issue is simple. Nuño is here to waste our time.

The CD3.5 has the old Naim sound with more swing and a more raw sound. The CD5 has more air and softer sound with less swing, but it has a lot of swing also. Just remember that a cd5 wont work good with old Naim stuff. Or if you start with new naim sound start bacwards in the system.
Why buy a 3.5 if you'r not sure. Buy a CD3.
And a CDX after that. When that time comes.

work just fine together. I enjoy the combination of my "new" naim front end and "old" amps every single time I fire it up. By the way, didn't care much for the 3.5 at all.

i´m not here to waste my time or the others!
Some of your advices are helpful !What happens to me it happens with other guys.My dealer , a person wich I use to trust tell me that his advices are the best, not trust in other advices!Since the first time I went in his shop, after buy Nait 5 he advices to me not to go for a Naim cd player! For commercial reasons or others,I don´t know.
To me makes all sense to get a Naim cd player!I know that this argue is no more fundamental, but when I ask for quality tell me that I wouldn´t find it in a 600£ cdp Exposure.

sorry Nuño,
but do we get a say too, about whether you're wasting our time? I think we should.
Of course this forum is for asking and giving advice. But there's limits - the more one asks advice the less useful it gets. Grown men make up their own minds after asking a question or two. The impression is very strong you're just here to ask advice over and over again without doing anything.
Perhaps it's a money matter. In that case, why ask for advice? You either find a way to get the money, or decide the stuff is too expensive for you. There's nothing wrong with the latter. As it happens I can't afford a CDSII - whch is one reason why I'm not asking folks "advice" about CDSII all the time. In fact these queries keep you from making a decision.
People have been making you kind and helpful offers of their s / h gear - and the embarrassing thing is that after all your enquiries nothing happens. This is why I'm saying you're wasting time, and perhaps it would be best for all if you stopped asking advice and made up your mind.

OK I admit.I was impatient with that story of cd player. It´s not useful talk and talk again about the same issues...
