God Save The Queen!
Posted by: Rasher on 13 July 2007

When I was a young lad just after WW1 the cinema was pretty new (moving picture house). It was scary at first because we believed that these images were magic, even though they were silent, but that aside.
They played the National Anthem and we would all stand, sing and salute, and no-one ever, or would want to ever question it. We just did it. It was what everyone did. I think it's disgraceful that we don't do that at every event anymore, and at greeting anyone in the street for that matter - I do!.
I think everyone that works for the BBC should be locked in The Tower for trying to make our beloved Monach look ridiculous.
I think we should all take a moment to now stand together, salute, and sing the National Anthem.
Come on now, I can't hear you at the back.

I revere the Queen as our titular Head of State.

Well, I have every sympathy for her. I was absolutuely furious the last time I was asked to remove my crown.

Her main role is as a bulwark against the boundless ambitions of his Blairness and the like, who would love to be Head of State. Our constitution may be imperfect (and unwritten) but it does seem to work. Much of the credit for that must go to the incumbent. I fear that pressures for a republic will increase dramatically when she finally leaves the stage.
As for this BBC thing, it sounds as if the images were edited to make the whole story into a story. The Head Of BBC1 may yet lose his job over it. I haven't seen it so can't comment, but I do respect Annie Liebowitz's work - she is one of the great photgraphers of the last 50 years.

I read the web story about the Queen being asked to remove her tiara, except I misread it as being asked to remove her bra. At the time I had every sumpathy for her, I wouldn't want to take my bra off in public either.

Royal family don't need the BBC to make them look ridiculous.

Doesn't work for me - United Republic or the UR (yooh-arrh: sounds a bit Wiltshire to me) - no, we couldn't have that - it would invalidate lyrics like I thought it was the UK. I thought it was the UR wouldn't rhyme.
Anyway they could slip Helen Miriam is as Queen and I doubt if anybody would notice - in fact, they might have all ready done that.
I don't agree with the idea that she should be off-shored though .... or was that another misquote?

Disgraceful comments! I'm appalled. You'd be sorry if she gave it all up and went back to work in the tea shoppe. I'm not listening to any of this...I've got my fingers in my ears and I'm singing really loud to drown you all out.
GOD SAVE OUR GRACIOUS QUEEN, LONG LIVE.....

I'm told the Tower is quite comfy these days...

Annie Liebowitz maybe a renowned photographer but IMHO she is over rated.
It is just the BBC attempting to make 'news' and gain coverage for its programming..
The BBC is employing media spin and leak tactics just Bliar and his ilk.....lets hope the newbod is more respecting of his new audience.

I believe the BBC have apologised to the Queen and to Annie Liebowitz for the mistake, and rightly so.End of story.

Perhaps they'll now do the same for Orgreave?
Posted on: 13 July 2007 by Rasher
The reason the BBC have apologised is because they have to, whether they are guilty or not. Just because she doesn't want to world to see her in a strop she has put peoples jobs on the line, and does she care about that? Does she ****! The only thing she cares about is herself and her immediate family - certainly not even in-laws. This is a pretty good example of how she sees us "subjects" as little more than dirt. Director of BBC1 losing his job? What does she care, they're all scum.
I think we should pull the plug on the royals, and the sooner the better.
Irony is that this was all about having her photo taken - I mean - what other purpose does she serve anyway? It's the sole purpose of her existence isn't it?
OMG What am I saying
.....I'll have to go and sing 20 Rule Brittanias.....

Rasher! Up against the wall! Blindfold?

What a load of fuss about nothing. To make it worse it pushed the Beckhams Do USA off the front pages of some snoozepapers.Do I really have to put a smilie in?

We need to be careful on this thread - we don't want the Royalty to all go on strike, do we (you know down crowns)? Think of the impact it would have.
Posted on: 13 July 2007 by Rasher
Yeah, what would Prince Harry do?
(The one who can't go to war because he's an easy target; he's the one in a Nazi uniform).

Tantrums and tiaras eh. Just par for the course for an old queen!
Posted on: 13 July 2007 by garyi
Personally I think its the other way round. I think the queen did throw her toys, but because of the interest has instructed the beeb she did not want it shown.

Do you really have to waste the facilities offered by the worlds finest hifi company to discuss twaddle such as this.
This isn't even schoolboy level.

Maybe this is an opportune moment to disband the BBC.
After the 'Blue Peter' swindle and the fact that the licence payers had to foot the OFCOM fine, this episode demonstrates that the people running the BBC are incapable of doing it correctly.
Is disobeying the request of the Monarch a treasonable offence ?

Did someone ask her to take her hat off in doors?
Stop it!
Close this thread immediately Mick has spoken.
On second thoughts NO sod it it's still a sort of democracy. It will take someone higher to decide if NAIM's forum facilities are being "wasted".
I know a couple of really clever male school children so that analogy is flawed also.

So Mick, you don't consider it a waste of the world's finest hifi company's facilities to discuss which brand of car/in-car-navigation-system/coffee machine/coffee cup/secondhand Porsche/ad nauseum you should spend your money on?

Padded Cell
Quotation for the main forum menu:
We know you have other interests so here's a quiet room where you can talk about F1, mountain bikes, computers and whatever else takes your fancy.
End of Quotation.
Affectionately known as the Rubber Room by some, about the only things that will not pass muster a suitable fodder for debate [even anguished debate!] here is obsessive discussion of Mains Supplies, and inciting criminal acts.
Otherwise "whatever takes your fancy" about sums up what people are seemingly allowed to say, however much any individual may disapprove. It can be great fun!
"Live and let live," I say with no particular contibutor or contributors in mind!
Kindest regards from Fredrik
