Never come across/heard of it before. Do Naim still make these?

Yes, we can still make the Headline adaptors. We don't get much call for them but were asked for one just a few weeks ago and we were happy to oblige.

If you do want to run a Headline straight off a source then there are obvious advantages in having the DIN hard-wired to the correct pins however, if you then wish to go back to connecting the Headline through the pre-amp then you will need to re-wire the pins to their usual configuration. The adaptor allows you to use the Headline either way simply and with minimal fuss.

Ross,

are you talking about a tape loop splitter? We don't make such a thing but I guess it's possible to do if you're a handy DIYer otherwise your dealer may be able to help.

I don't know what losses there may be though...

Does anyone know how the Headline Adaptors work?

I assume, in the case of a CDX say, you'd need to disconnect the DIN which normally runs from the CD to the preamp and plug the adaptor into the CD DIN socket. If so, it's a rather intrusive solution isn't it?

Jack,

the Headline adaptor is to allow the use of the Headline straight from the output of a source such as a Naim CD player - use of the standard connector on the Headline (which is designed to take signal from the output of a pre-amp tape loop) results in the incorrect pins being connected with the result of no sound.
