A Real Record Shop

Dear Friends,

Herewith I post a link from the Hereford Times concerning a Choir from Russia performing in the Roman Catholic Church in Broad Street in Hereford [UK], which really needs support.

The tickets are obtainable from my favourite record shop, which I have been going to since the early eighties, Outback Records in Church Street, near the Cathedral. [01432] 275063

May I recommend anyone who visits Hereford that you find this shop, which is situated in the old stable block of the Organists House [as it was of old], where Elgar’s friend GR Sinclair lived [and whom Elgar immortalised in the Enigma Variations in this narrow pedestrian street adjacent to the Close. The choice of recordings in stock is amazing for those who enjoy classical music, spoken word, and jazz. They also sell tickets for all the local concerts. A real music shop, and a sadly rarer breed than at one time. They will post items once ordered ...

Also anyone who is about on the 16th of November may care to go to the concert. The RC Church of Saint Francis Xavier is also an architectural gem [among may in Hereford, of course] and support this Choir, which has been put into debt by beaurocratic red tape and a doubling of their visa costs without warning...

I don't listen to a lot of classical music, but I agree it's great that such a shop still exists. Whilst amazon does get a fair amount of my music money, I still try to patronise real record shops like Rough Trade, for example as well.
