F1 Season 2008

Posted by: blackforest on 11 March 2008

i can't hardly wait until the 1st real sunday this year Winker

so what do you all think?

i would be really surprised if Renault/Alsonso would be under the first four this season...

my bets are on Kimi/Ferrari, Hamilton/McLaren and Heidfeld/BMW though they are supposed to be 1sec behind.

regards

Good to see there will be close racing this year - Pleased that Hamilton got off to the best possible start with a win - great to see Rosberg up there also.

With most of the drivers aides gone the cream should rise to the top, should become a classic season - let's hope so its what the sport needs - would love to see Button get the car his talent deserves

Night race should be interesting's

All it meant at the Australian Grand Prix was that a lot of cars did not finish.

Is it? The continuing discussions on the forum about Formula 1 and what it needs are really about what the spectator needs.

Hmmm - if he had the talent then surely a team with reliable cars would have signed him by now?

Still not a great car, he did WIN with the Honda though.

understand your comments on Button, this is the guy who bought himself out of the Williams contract to remain with Honda??, and yes I accept the big teams my well not covert Button - but to be fair in the reign of the mighty Schuy - not much choice apart from McClaren, which was filled

It's pretty rare for someone like Hamilton to get a seat in such a top team - great gamble and paid off in spades - Ron D must be over the moon at result, but then it had been 12 years investment

IMO Button will get the car, under the direction of Ross Brawn who does not fail with cars - look at Ferrari before he joined - year out (plenty of fishing) backing of Honda who need to aim at a younger market

also the other UK drives - I hope Davidson can come on - looks like they don't have any money in a sport that uses it like water

Let's wait and see - as I said looks like it could be a good year

I think you could be right but don't forget RB had MS pushing Ferrari as well and as for the cost, almost as much as every one else put together.
It helps effectively having a country bankrolling you,not sure Japan will step up not with 2 teams. Toyota are failing spectacularly with a shed load of money too.

Just had 'Grand Prix' on TCM, still fantastic filmwork even after all these years.

It's back on BBC over here next season. Hopefully that means HD too.

Back on the beeb, must admit I quite like the ITV approach to F1 - certainly the team James Allen - Martin Brundle come over very well - I am sure BBC will want to improve this - no ad's at least!

Remember with a very fond affection the days of "Humt the shunt" and Murry! - It is to late for a comeback???

Bet Steve Rider is a little P*&"ed off, as he went over to present F1 - echoes of Dez?

I certainly hope that the BBC DON'T sign up James Allen simpering twat. Martin Brundle is very good. After hearing Murry commentate on something the other day,all I'll say is I hope he stays in retirement re F1.
I'm surprised the Aussie hasn't bought it for Sky he seems to grab everything else.

I have to agree with BigH47 on James Allen. He sounds like he's commentating the races to a group of under 14yr olds. I'm buggered if I know how he got the job actually - was there nobody better at the time?

Several,but were ignored/not interviewed.

Ben Edwards would be a great match with Martin Brundle who looks like the only one of the ITV being considered to "come over".

The best thing is we get the old theme tune back Smile IMHO it ranks along side the old BBC Ski Sunday and Cricket themes in being inextricably linked with the sports they introduced.

I really hope that James Allen gets the boot - he's awful. So was Jim Rosenthal. Hope they keep Brundle 'cos he's excellent - especially when he can't believe what nonsense James Allen just spouted!

Roll on "the chain"!

wot no comment the second grand prix? Massa falling off (again)? Hamilton unable to overtake Webber? Raikkonen at the front?
Posted on: 27 March 2008 by Tony Lockhart
Massa seems to be acting like the grid chimp. Hamilton seemed to be a victim of the current aero packages. That'll be stopped, hopefully, next year.
Anyone seen the videos on the Autocar website showing one of their journos driving last year's Honda (ouch) at a very cold Silverstone? He was VERY close to the Honda/Super Aguri test driver's time...... That must mean last year's cars were easier to drive than the simulator I tried a couple of weeks ago!
