Stunning Re-mix Al***s

Often considered the bastard child, the re-mix album often turns up some great stuff.

For me Fila Brazilla's Another Late Night got me into the sounds of Mr Scruff and The Beta Band.

With this in mind I have been aware of re-mix albums out there and was abruptly bought back to this when I heard some stunning stuff on a 'Chill out' CD I heard at work today, unfortunatly I didn't get the name, but heard all sorts including Deadly Avenger and DJ Shadow.

With that in mind and the knowledge I would be on me own this evening I have had a hunt through recent purchases and have decided that 'Global Underground: James Lavelle is an excellent re-mix album featuring DJ Shadow, Leftfield, Roots Manuva (who are excellent BTW) and Ils amongst others.

What other re-mixes should I look out for. Obviously of the electronica variety!

Face it guys, the 70s has gone, this is the acceptable face of the underground, the floyd of the noughties you might say.

Secret Garden of Mutabor - remixes by Youth is fantastic. I have no ideas of what the original tracks are though. I have a mid 90's Gatecrasher set which is also a blinder.

Gareth what happened to all that Country music you're supposed to get or are you just egging us on?

Tricky's Back to Mine is fantastic. Like hanging out with the man minus the getting punched in the mouth bit.

Everything But the Girl also did a Back to Mine that's pretty good, so did MJCole. All great mixes.

I'm waiting for Nick Lees Back to Mine, Tom Alves Another Late Night and that 4 CD set of UKgarage remixes from the Tunbridge Wells Collective, Tunbridgeification.

MIke I take on board what everyone is saying. Normally a few months later I pick some of it up. For instance a month or so ago I started a thread on Bob Dylan, got some responses and bought one of the recommendations. I didn't like it but there you go!

Nick - I wanted to get a copy as a pressie for a mate, but also found it no longer exists - or ever seemed to exist!!!
Tracks:
mayko - erzule
juno reactor - song for ansestors (sic)
Trans global underground - temple head
swivel pigeon - swarigami
dead can dance - indus
gayan utte jak orchestra - harmonogram
cat van trapp - stars of babylon in her eyes
quadra - the seventh tower
padmasandra - holistic resonance
another green world
liquid high - morning of magicians
amp - forever now
zodiac youth experience - 7am melt down

As it doesn't exist, maybe it's not illegal to do you a copy?
It is probably the best remix album I own.
