How terribly sad. She and her sister made some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

One of two amazing voices lost in one day. RIP.

I'll have to put on one of their records tonight to celebrate this quiet master. I remember hearing active DBL's with Julian for the first time in 1990 at CES and the track I played as my first test was "Love Is" from Kate and Anna's mid 80's CD "Heartbeats Accelerating". It perfectly captured the things I love about Naim systems; the seemingly magnetic attraction of forward momentum, and the emotion of a good song well sung.
Years after that audio high point, I was fortunate enough to be in the audience at the old New York showcase club the Bottom Line for a show with the McGarrigle Family Hour. They were about half way through their wonderful set when I spied their old friends Linda Rondstat and Emmylou Harris seating at a table on the side of the stage. The joined the two Canadian sisters on stage for some of the most amazing harmony vocals I have ever heard, and it didn't seem to matter whatsoever to these two stars that the audience was small, they were there to support their friends as fellow artists, and enjoy in the chance to sing together even if meant they had flied across the country to be there that night.
Good listening, thanks Kate.

Hadn't listened to her for years, but now I'm playing 'I eat dinner' and tears are streaming. How will I get through 'I'm losing you'?

I've just been listening to Radio 4's "Last Word" (the obituary series) which had a nice tribute to her.
