Be careful what you do in Switzerland.

Ha! Excellent. The Swedes do have some quite sane attitudes it seems.

Switzerland is full of speed camera minefield and they are extremely serious about enforcing the speed limit.
A couple of years ago while living in Zurich, I got a hefty fine of ~1000 USD for a couple of kilometers over the speed limit driving through the Geneva town center at 4 AM in the morning!!! I was furious when I got the ticket through the mail but now I feel better knowing that some people pay more, LOL.
If I were this guy, I would relinquish the car and run.

I was in CH last year when they impounded all the cars associated with some sort of gumball rally. In the newspaper and on the TV they commented on the fines being based on income, that the police had the right to impound and condemn (scrap) the vehicles and also, if the speed was deemed excessive also charge the drivers with life-threatening behaviour / intent to cause death. I think it may vary from canton to canton as well. Couldn't find anything to verify this from Google but that is my recollection. Guess it would have been around July, may have been the year before as well. Memory not what it was
When driving to Zürich I tend to just set the car on cruise control when on the motorways, saves a lot of bother with the bizzies.

Meh.
I have been driving in Switzerland for about seven years. In town I stick to the limit. On the motorway I tend not to go too much above 130 - it's a 120 limit.
I have been fined once. For doing 70 in a 60 (leaving a motorway and not slowing fast enough). They allow 4 Kph over the limit. The fine was 120 Chf - 6 * 20. 120 Chf is about 60 of your British quids.
There are less cameras here than in the UK but they are not marked and can be in funny places.

I was driving across Switzerland last Saturday and my friend was just a few miles ahead. He got seriously hassled by an SLS which he said was doing ridiculous speeds. I wonder if it was the same one.

Given the Swiss aversion to noise I wonder what sanction they would have applied to this woman?
