Ditch Sky HD ?

Had Sky HD installed this week with the Samsung box, got the HD mix and the movies and half price installation

Feel a bit cheated though as its not until you get it that you realise that the HD mix channels dont show exclusively HD transmissions. This seems variable but overall only 50% is HD

I'm seriously thinking of taking up Sky's 30 day cancellation get-out and getting a Bluray, but will my old box work with the twin feed cable and dish and will I need to pay Sky the full £60 installation fee?

....I have HD and can see your point but there will only be more HD sourced material available over the coming months so I guess it's how long you want to wait ....

As for your old box ....if it was a Sky+ box then there's no problem ...all the connections are the same..If it wasn't I'm not sure .. ...there's 2 LNB connections on a Sky+ box to allow you to watch one channel whilst recording the other so I s'ppose with a standard box you'll only need to connect one (?)
(Someone on here will know!)

Thanks for your post, Bosh, as I was considering Sky HD myself. My advice is YES use the 30 day cancellation.

I get really wound up when companies con you to get you in.........

Yep, you only need one LNB connection for "Standard" Sky.

I've been a Sky HD subscriber more or less ever since HD was available, but I'm now seriously considering ditching it in favour of Freesat, which has several HD channels (I tend to only watch BBC anyway) and is free! Humax are bringing out a PVR Freesat box at the end of the month & you can use the same satellite dish and connections.

The only thing stopping me at the moment is I'm waiting to see how Sky responds to this serious competition - hopefully they'll bring the price of the subscription down.

Freesat only has BBCHD and the rare HD program on ITV at the moment.
