Del Amitri - Recommendations?

Posted by: jayd on 03 March 2003

I suppose I'm pretty late to "discover" these guys, but man I'm glad I did. I picked up "Twisted" in the dollar bin at the used cd store... probably the best dollar I've ever spent. The first three songs on this disc are as good as any three power-pop tunes I've ever come across, in my opinion.

Ok, so enough gushing... what should I pick up next? I think they only had one US hit, "Roll to Me", and that's on the disc I already have. Any fans out there?

Thanks!

Waking Hours - their first "proper" album, and still their best.

Jay,

I really like Del Amitri. They can write and play a decent tune, which is why they never made it big at home in the UK. I think "Twisted" is fabulous, don't know "Waking Hours", was disappointed by "Change Everything" and not really grabbed by "Some Other Sucker's Parade" after listening to it in a shop. However, their latest album "Can You Do Me Good" is close to "Twisted" in terms of songwriting and production quality.

Waking Hours is a definite.

Final track is superb,

'...closed circuit cameras in department store
shot the same movies everyday,
and the stars of these films neither died nor get killed
just survive constant action replay.'
