Perhaps as many Gay individuals have suffered more than most in the field of personal abuse and isolatation (in UK), they tend to be quite thick skinned as a result of their experiences. I would add also that many kids who've spent some time in care would have developed a similar toughness as well, making a mutual respect at some level almost inevitable, innit *

One would assume that the new rules allowing single sex couples to adopt children in the UK, also indirectly relates to the new legal status they have now been given in respect of marriage/civil partnerships, in that I think that one wouldn't have happenned without the other, if one gets my drift, innit *

I've known (personally) at least two British blokes who were married with kids for years, then decided all of a sudden to begin a Gay relationship, and let all the past blow to the wind (kids were grown up), and after things settled down, they often happily enjoyed looking after their own Grandchildren, nothing new there then, innit *
