How fortunate that the footballers, wot taught them all they know, can so easily afford to pay their fans gobbing fines.

As we all know in the real world most parents consider their children their 'property' (except on the odd occassions when they have to be responsible for them ASBO style) innit. The state (UK) now can give kids in care up for adoption to same sex couples. The majority of couples (90%+) (irrespective of persuation) desire to have little babys, and after going through stringent procedures (that often normal parents would fail miserably), if they are very very lucky, they'll end up with what they want. All kids in care are not for adoption (many are just not suitable for various reasons, mainly psychological) hence the need for good quality foster care, which I'm sure many Gay folk in UK may well have already carried out over the years, though not as couples?
So what we're really talking about here (in the real world) is an already chocka block adoption system (ie, not enough babys) being made open to yet another group of couples in the UK desperately seeking children (many of who'm take illegal, foreign routes, often ending in yet more heartache) obvious innit Tom*
Though I don't know if the State considers their 'Wards' their property or not? *
As the Flinstones Merrily sang, It's a Gay old World, as many kids on Britain's streets living rough, point out, a high percentage of them well into petty crime, substance abuse, and prostitution, as well as high percentage of them being ex, wards, of the, er, State; innit *

I personally think it's a bit naughty the way some Hammers fans treat Lampard these days; and as far as I'm concerned, he's the coolest thing around since Our Mick started telling jokes in public: *
Talking of Jokes, I've just this minute rang my new prosepective employer, who cooly informed me that they'd be in touch next week, after telling me last week to ring them today, it's great being fucked around by people isn't it? mind you I should be used to it by now! and my rent is paid, so it's not half as bad as being strangled by a mortgage and earning a fortune I suppose, issit *

Talk about bleedin swings & Roondaboots John!
For the last six years or so, I've been regularly filling out questionaires etc for a large German Market research company, covering just about every product and subject under the sun, innit. This is unpaid, and one occasionally gets a prize (usually high qulaity goods from various firms, or even sometimes a cash cheque) or voucher of some kind. I've personally been doing it for fun, and to improve my German skills (maybe I should learn English first eh?), as most are written in pretty difficult language, and are very easy to miss-interpret. To cut a long story long, low & behold,. I get a letter today, totally out of the blue telling me they no longer require my participation (in other words cos I'm on the dole, and don't buy enough goods etc) and don't in their words represent a standard unit. Perhaps they're not aware that I actually do represent 6 million plus folk, and 'fortunately²' have no credit rating anymore. It was a pleasure to bin the paperwork just now! four whole files full of bullshit², innit.
As we know insurance company's (like 'unqualified IFA's) just love returning 'cash'. My Health people have just transferred dosh to my account for overpayment on my behalf last year, which was a total surprise, and a welcome one at that, wunnit *
N.B. As thousands of British 'Gay' teenagers are terrified of losing their families through the 'stigma' of coming out, and even committing suicide as a last resort, through sheer desperation, perhaps there should be another, better way of educating their parents.
"I don't care if he is a bloody highly decorated & Distinguished Royal Marine Officer, the Bent Sod, is no Son of mine"

Firstly! I whole-heartedly agree with Our Rasher's last post on the old adoption thread. I wonder how the old Monty Python 'No Poofters' sketch would go down these days on the old telly, but you know me? *
N.b: Just watched a very interesting interview with everybody's most favouritist British Statesman/Politician, The Right Honourable Tony Benn. Although I was aware of the fact that he himself was one of the few, (like Hughie Green & The fat Controller/Pension-stealer Maxwell, also were for instance in the game), though I didn't realise that his own father, who also served in WW1 in the RFC as a pilot, also flew in the second bash against the Hun as well. After the War, (in contrast to 'Durin it') Benn's father became the Air Ministry Chief, and did his Damndest (successfully too) to prevent a certain Mr Harris from entering the Lords, alongside his Guvnor Dowding, as he was deemed an unfit character for such high office.
Interesting stuff I thought! *
P.S. For those who aren't aware 'The Few' were those RAF Pilots (Of many various Nationalities) who brilliantly faught & won the 'Battle of Britain' against the Mighty Luftwaffe*, and gave Britain some 'well-needed' time to get itself sorted sharpish for what was to come, innit *
N.B. Harris is remembered by an imposing statue outside the RAF's own church in London Town:*
PPS: Our Tony's son was also the first man to climb everest without a portfolio too, quite a family indeed, innit *

Having a good friend here who's been a Scoutmaster for over 20 years, and having been both a Cub & Scout (& ATC) myself as a child in London (and choirboy God forbid) I'm surprised that this tiresome steriotypical portrait still persists in many folks tiny minds. As far as I can/have see/n it; such folk are pretty well vetted (usually ex-venture scouts etc, themselves) coming from all walks of life, from Coppers, Firemen, Military Officers, and NCO's etc, etc, (even freemasons God Bless em) (Male & female from right across the board in every community in Europe, States, etc, etc, and all voluntary, not to forget too.)
I personally have more thoughts of letting young children loose (often by totally daft parents), and unguarded, with Naive members of certain Clergies, but you know me! Three Hail Mary's and we'll forget all about it John, innit *
P.S. Perhaps folk should also bear in mind the fantastic legacy that Baden Powell & His wife have left the world*

When working with old people a few years back (most of who'm still lived at home, varying in age from 70-102) I was amazed by all the little 'improved tailor-made' gadgets around them to help them lead normal lives. Big buttoned telephones (and computers & TV's) flashing lights for the deaf, etc, etc, bit daft really, all they probably needed in the end was a Roberts radio, wunnit *

I think the Roberts is the way to go, there's no CD player but that may not be the end of the world - the way I see it better to have a radio that will be used than a CD/Radio that won't because he can't operate it.
I feel slightly awkward the way these posts may come across - I'm not suggesting my Grandad is stupid, if anyone here has dealt with dementia you'll hopefully know where I'm coming from.
Paul
Paul me Old China, Please don't take my last post as being personally sarcastic, and I for one do know where you're coming from John! but I'll remind you once again, although any and every subject under the sun is 'debated' here, it's still only an internet forum afterall, and possibly not suitable for some things that one would normally want to investigate professionally and privately, innit *

Dr Barnado found that National Children Homes were very stable, though they're required to make a profit these days too! so maybe the kids should be sent out on PFI work-experience schemes, then join the HM Services at 15/16, just like the good old days, so they don't end up as Chavs, as well as saving all that old bloody adoption bullshit, (think of the dosh Gordon) innit*

Sadly one does not have to pass an IQ test before being allowed to breed, hence the astonishing fecundity of fucking idiots.

What's biologically 'normal' about driving a car, getting a haircut or wearing clothes?
