Has anyone been to it before? Thinking of getting tickets for me and kids. Good line up already and more to come. Seems like the gentle pace of life i could do with nowadays Smile

Hi

I haven't been before, but, after going to Reading last year I vowed that was the last one ever and if I was going to any festivals next (this) year it would be one like this or Latitude.

Sounds really good to me...especially if last year's Slow Club, Emmy The Great or Joanna Newsom turn up again.... go for it! :-)

Hi Diccus

Undoubtably I'm becoming an older, grumpier git to the extent that I've even started telling people off for dropping litter in the street!
:-) (Well it is just so rude expecting other people to pick up your rubbish!)

But mostly I just found a lot of the people, the bands and the general atmosphere a bit too overtly macho and aggressive. People were just rude and arrogant a lot of the time and it didn't seem to have what I look for in a festival. I need my beauty sleep too these days and at Reading you basically have to accept you are not going to sleep for 3 1/2 days!

Hey man join the club.

Litter, it winds me up too. The village I used to live in was horrendous, the pavement was a rubbish bin.

Reading sounds like my idea of hell. I need my beauty sleep as well, tho realistically it doesn't improve the looks Frown

Hi Diccus62

I went in 2006, and it was great. Fantastic venue, lovely view of hills, well organised, fab music. Would say it was very kid friendly, the ones I saw there seemed to be having a lot of fun. The only two festivals I'd want to go to would be this one or End of the Road.

Not tried the Green Man festival, but it\s tempting. Line-ups like that and the chance for a couple of days walking the hills - perfect!

For other laid-back festivals, consider Cambridge Folk Festival and Larmer Tree

This year, Mrs B and I will be at Trowbridge.

For an all round friendly festival (inc' children) with vast quantities of interesting music W.O.M.A.D. takes some beating.

Personal highlights in this years Charlton Park line-up include ...

Lee 'Scratch' Perry

Cara Dillon

Mavis Staples

Toumani Diabate

Trans-Global Underground

... but there's so much more!

Hi Diccus

No problems at all with camping, and the showers were good too.

Thanks Steve. Sunday night top listers appeal to me at Larmer Tree and bits and bobs at Trowbridge. Devon Sproule seems to be playing every festival - I thought she was overly quirky live for me but others may disagree.

Looked also at Latitude which doesnt appeal at all.

Always like the idea of Cambridge but the line up never quite pushes all my buttons.

Yup it's Green man for me if I get myself sorted. I'm a fussy old Hector.
