HiFi +

OK, Been waiting for the issue after May/June to come out for ages. Does anyone know if/when July/August is out yet, and if so where on earth does one get a copy in Berkshire???? Smiths don't have it in Reading, Bracknell or Wokingham.

It's a bloody disgrace...or have they gone tits up?

Regards,
Frank.

Frank

I got mine this morning delivered by hand.

My Postman always knocks on my door and hands my post to me personally.

I did not receive issue 11, I contacted Hifi+, who prompltly despatched a copy. So they are keen to rectify a problem.

I must admit that I am now finding the mag somewhat repetitive but it is still the best of a bad bunch. Paul Messenger is very good.

Also I used to like the articles where they listed all the music shops, rare record shops etc in various towns, London , Manchester and Notingham come to mind.

Also they once did a very good series on decent restaurants which I found entertaining.

Regards

Frank - there are only 8 per year - it is not a monthly publication. Subscription is the best way of ensuring a copy. I certainly used to have difficulty getting it locally. I got mine today through the post.

The reasons why I am annoyed are twofold:

1 is that Roy told me they had sorted out a new distributor to take care of them and that he had great hopes for the distribution to be sorted quickly.

2 is that they don't say when the next edition will be out (e.g. look out for the July/August edition due in the shops July 1st!).

Fact is, as you say, it's bimonthly so it's important for them to keep their readership aware of what's happening. I go to Smiths. I don't even see the last edition on the shelves most of the time. What am I supposed to think? And I hate subscription!

Frank.

If you ever come through Oxford Borders bookshop usually has it. Also seen in a newsagents on the Cowley Road, next door to the Bullingdon Arms.

It's not just the north west - perhaps they think people can only afford it if they can afford to travel by train!

I see that in Hampshire I can buy it at a W H Smiths at a railway station or a hospital but no W H Smiths in Dorset stock it.

Borders in Bournemouth - top shop for magazines including of course Hi-Fi+.

you haven't missed much, as it's been business as usual.

There was a show report, Roy Gregory reviewed an expensive cartridge, Jimmy Hughes went on about the Chord DAC and Jason Hector mentioned Naim.

Frank,

If you find a source in Reading / Wokingham area, let me know becuse i am there, and I can't find it either!

Does Audio T sell it? I thought it used to be sold in Hi-Fi shops.

I looked for it in Reading on Saturday, but came home with 22 LPs from the Sound Machine instead.

However, The Web site says it is on sale at the WH Smiths in Reading Station.

I am looking forward to the LP!2 comparisons.

Mike - why change a winning formula!

There's a "very" interesting review by Roy Gregory on the Dynavector DV ADP-2 Superstereo processor. Probably the only device HiFi+ have reviewed that has "spring clip" speaker terminals smile

It's a multi-channel music and movie sound processor that doesn't go down the Dolby track. Works very well apparently, anyone seen it, played with it, in person like?
