Van Morrison Vinyl Day

Posted by: jim learoyd on 04 April 2010

Well had a fantastic Van Morrison Vinyl session yesterday. It's not very often I spend most of the day playing vinyl of only one artist with not getting bored. Some incredible music that Van has done over the many decades and to my taste played some of his best 'Celtic' years roughly between 1980-1990 (excluding Van's "Into the Music" Lp).

That's a lot of Van. Wonder how many I could listen to in a row....I'll have to give it a go soon. I saw him live for the first time last year and he was pretty damm good even if he said not a lot.

Nice to hear from you Jim!

I recently discovered VM and yes, I have spent an entire day listening to his vinyl.

Tony

That's '"Enlightenment" really good album. My faves are "Beautiful Vision", "Poetic Champions Compose" and "Avalon Sunset". Well really they are all brilliant.

Glad you like him too. I'm a massive fan of his music and starting to look at his very early catalogue, looks interesting (on vinyl of course).

Poetic Champions Compose is certainly one of his very best.

More tunes from the great Van the Man. Astral Weeks and Veedom Fleece on the way.

Veedon Fleece is often over looked, but very good. Favourite tracks on that are Bulbs and Fair Play

Please do me (and yourself) a favour, and get the double live album "It's too late to stop now" as soon as possible! This is Van at his very early best, really powerful and in total control.
You should also get the new live recording of Astral Weeks, some very nice versions and Van seems to be literally back on top (no pun intended..)
