Hi there,

wondering if I get a Flash II when ordering a NAC 252.

No, I have no Flash I. The one I got (when buying CDX or NAC102) looks a bit cheap and is not really the thing I expect together with a top preamp like the 252 is. (esp. when considering the price of a 252!!)

It's not that I desperately need one!

No, the 252 includes the standard remote. The CDS2 came with the Flash.
The chip inside which holds the remote programming can be changed to control the newer items like the nat05 or the av2.
I saw only that the old 2 circle naim audio logo on top of the Flash II was missing. I don't think that there has much changed inside...

happy listening

Hardly to believe, I have to transfer Naim almost Swiss Francs 18'000.-- for a preamp and only get a standard remote control. There must be something wrong.....

Confused

the standard remote is so much easier to use, not to mention less bulky, that I don't know why it would worry you? Do you really want to pay an extra £300 for a remote?
I for one am hoping that Naim will make it an optional extra on the CDS-III as I can't see any use for it other than as a door stop.

Yup......me too

I have a 'Flash' that came with my CDSII, but much prefer to use the cheapo plastic thing that came with my new 202 pre-amp.

It's more logically laid out and the buttons have a positive feel. Much better for 'double-clicking' the volume into 'slo-mo'.

The Flash just looks impressive.

Sadly agree. The flash sits on top of the CDS2 gathering dust and the cheapie remote is the one that gets used. Really a shame as it looks great and has a quality feel. Main problem for me is the 'program' function being on the second page and as already said the button feel.

Is it possible to configure the Flash2 in the same manner as e.g. the Philipps thing? Or is the Flash2 fixed?
