Newsnight Tuesday 16th January 2007 marked the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union between England and Scotland. Debate dominated by the debate between Alex Salmond, Leader of the Scottish National Party, and Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for Scotland.
Sad to hear that oik Kelvin McKenzie splurt out his saloon bar wisdom. If he feels chippy about Scot's in powerful positions in London he should go to Hampstead North, sorry err, I mean Edinburgh or St Andrews University (home of Will, Rupert, Hugo and Camilla)
Highlight was Alex Salmond saying that an independent Scotland would keep Sterling, with interest rates set by the Bank of England. I.e. what would be deemed to be the best interest rate for the economy of England would apply to the independent Scotland.
Plus Alex Salmond has previously admitted that Queen Elizabeth would remain Queen of Scotland.
