Enjoyed the programme about Richard Thompson - I know his stuff with Albion Country Band and Fairport better than his later work so it was interesting to hear how he'd developed.

Thanks again for the recommendation.

RT is much under-rated. His style of electric guitar playing (as a teenager!) in Fairport, was something quite new in folk music.

His playing has developed into a truly unique and innovative style. I love his acerbic lyrics, and songs about love gone wrong - viz: 'When the spell is broken' from 1985's 'Across A Crowded Room'. Wonderful stuff.

'Rumor (sic) and Sigh' and 'Mock Tudor' have some great tracks, and Richard maintains the standard with 'The Old Kit Bag', and the latest acoustic offering 'Front Parlour Ballads'.

He even manages to take the piss out of Britney Spears 'Oops I missed again', and it's still musically enjoyable.

Recorded the wrong channel so missed the RT documenary. Radio 2 website is not playing it back either. Doh!

A very enjoyable programme - it was good to hear him playing my favourite RT song - Al Bowlly's in Heaven. A great musician, and a great wit too.
