25 years of World Circuit

Here's a real treat. 'World Circuit Presents...' is a 2CD 29 track collection of the best of 25 years of World Circuit, plus 7 previously unreleased tracks, studio and live. It is stuffed full of quality, majoring on Cuba and West Africa but with plenty of other delights. No tracks from Asia though.

If you are a world music fan you'll have a fair smattering of this already (Ali Farke Toure, Cheikh Lo, Buena Vista Social Club, Orchestre Baobab) but there was plenty new to me and the sheer quality of the collection still makes it worth the money. Unlike most World Music compilations it really does not have a duff track. The unreleased material includes a gorgeous track from Toure/Diabate from the 'In The Heart Of The Moon' sessions that did not make the final cut.

The recording quality is uniformly high and intermittently exquisite. My system was singing last night!

A treat for the existing fan and a great intro if you want to get into some cosmopolitan music. It's just £10.99 too.
