Is a Supercap I a reasonable option?

Posted by: Reto D on 28 January 2003

Hi there,

I'm planning to upgrade my 102 to a 252. Not having a Supercap yet I'm not sure if a second hand Scap1 would be reasonable together with he new 252. Or shall I better wait and go for the newer (ScapII) version? Is there a huge difference between those two? What do you think?

Thanks for any comments.

Reto,

AFAIK, the new XPS is called XPS2 because it's enough better to justify it.

The SuperCap is still just called SuperCap.

An old-style s/c won't lose much money if you sell it on in a year or two. "Free hifi". You can always demo the new-style s/c at some point in the future.

One word of caution, though. I believe the 252 needs a differently configured burndy (which should come with the pre). Check that the same config is required with either version of s/c. If not, you'll lose a lot of money buying both.

cheers, Martin
