Nait2 becomes clearer at higher listeninglevels

This weekend I noticed (with the neighbours away) that the sound of my Nait2 playing vinyl became much clearer when reaching listeninglevels with the volume 'past three o'clock' (which is quite loud of course).
It was to a certain extend comparable with 'pulling away thin curtains'.
Anyone experienced this as well? Something I can do to have the clearer sound at lower levels as well?

"If you want to get clearer sound at low levels then you could try other speakers to see which are better at this. I am sure that different speaker designs (sealed box, small air gaps, reflex ported, Shahinians etc.) all behave differently as you turn the volume up."

Just finished a longish round of speaker auditions and this is definitly the case. B&W's, for instance, didn't dance at all at lower volume levels although the bass didn't completely drop out like it did with some other models. Luckily, the Allaes we ordered have decent snap and remain communicative at low levels.

I think it is practically impossible to create a speaker that has a perfectly linear response at all sound levels, so what Simon says is true to a certain extent.

Why I am thinking it has to do with the amp is because it sounds like a switch is being turned over at the three o'clock level. It doesn't seem to be a nice linear response. I almost can hear a click! There is a sound 'before' and 'after'.
