Surely this needs more attention than CO2 emissions. The nation is a certified disaster area.

To be honest I think increased CO2 emissions are far more serious. The situation in Zimbabwe is serious enough though.

Intervention costs money and possibly lives and you don't do it for nothing.
Zimbabwe is frankly not worth worrying about. South Africa has the same natural resources and cheap labour and we can use that more effectively and safely.
End of realistic discussion.

Nice one Mick. What's the point of invading a country without robbing it?

Dear Nigel,
Why make empty postings? They do nothing to intensify the debate. Perhaps that is the most useful thing you have to say on the subject, in which case it probably was not worth the effort, in my humble opinion...

Just as a matter of interest, has foreign intervention in this sort of problem ever worked?

Nation building, usually under the auspicies of the UN, has been going on all over the world for a good sixty years. I would observe that the efforts in the former Yugoslavia seem to be not without merit. It remains to be seen what will happen in Afghanistan, and Iraq looks very difficult for the foreseeable future, so in answer to your question, Deane, the success must be somewhat unpredictable. In my view poor Zimbabwe would be very unlikely to get worse than today, unless Mugabe manages to select his successor...

Dear BB,
There are times when I could agree with DH Lawrence. Fredrik
