Cinema Anyone? What have you just watch?

Saw the latest Star Trek movie today. Entertaining indeed with a mix of humour and action. Chekov's accent was very funny.
I recomend it to anyone who likes Star Trek.

The three most recent films ive seen are Crank 2, Wolverine, and Fast & Furious.

Crank 2 is just pure hilarity. If you want a totally off the wall action packed yet utterly bizarre and stupid film, this is it. Cinematic genius. It does exactly what it says its going to, it entertains you. Jason Statham has certainly found a niche for himself in these and the Transporter films. Although the Transporter films are somewhat more serious and a bit better.

Wolverine was good enough. Entertaining and enjoyable, yet i think lacking something. It will be interesting to see how far the Origins series goes. If you like x-men, you will more than likely like this.

Fast & Furious is actually very good. On a par with the original. It seems they managed to find themselves again after the atrocity of Tokyo Drift. There are some good connections with the first film as well, and a great set up for another installment that hopefully won't disappoint.

Saw Star Trek on Orange Wednesday, most enjoyable. Just the right balance of humour and respect for the original. Although JTK was a little too "out there", "Sylar" was great as Spock.
I think they won't stop at one film though.
JJ Abrahams even managed a little Lost type scenario.

Seen the last X-Men, by chance the popcorn was good.

Seen the last Star Trek, first good blockbuster of the summer period IMO.

Looking forward to see the new Terminator -Salvation at the end of may and The Surrogates in september.

I'm a fan of SciFi films. Big Grin

Bye.

We are not great fans of the X Men but we will see Terminator in a couple of weeks.

"In the Loop" is hilarious.

The first film for a while when I've wondered when the dvd is coming out as the credits were rolling.

It will be difficult, difficult, lemon, difficult to resist swearing after you leave the cinema though.

I saw "Fighting" which is pretty fun if you are a fan of NYC, and if you like Terrance Howard (I love his work.) It is a really good mix of action and light drama, with some decent acting and great NY feel.

Also of the lighter fare, I saw Observe and Report, which is a oddly dark but amusing Seth Rogen vehicle. Plenty of people have reported walking out of it, but I happened to think it was really funny, but very twisted.

During these days of gloom and doom, I like to have a laugh and especially enjoy the low brow films, in the genre of "stupid but I couldnt help laughing" were "Role Models" (smarter than you would think, with Paul Rudd as a loser on the skidsWinker "I Love You Man", Paul Rudd again and with an against typecast Jason Siegel; and "Step Brothers" with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly made me fall out of my seat. I guess I am still about 10 yrs old at heart.

I have Star Treck on my list at the local IMAX. Talking about IMAX, the one in Sydney has one of the largest screens of any IMAX and I'm going there every 2 weeks or so with my son to watch the 3D movies, the last one was about Dinosaurs and just amazing (both vision and sound). Cool

I am a sci fi fan too. I thought Star Trek was alot of fun. I had a chance to do IMAX but could not get in, and could not wait! It was the first sci fi/futuristic thriller that got my heart pounding since Children of Men and before that The Matrix and before that....Bladerunner. It was a bit broad in a Hollywood way, but it had its moments of intelligence and pretty good casting. I am really looking forward to Terminator.

State of Play.
Surprisingly well acted (by Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck), and also less surprisingly (by Helen Mirren).

I wouldn't know. As I told in another thread, to see an important political scandal arise from a politician's secretary is for me - as an italian - utopian, so I'll consider it, with some regret, science fiction.

Good to know that cinemas still draw some following. I enjoy watching the movies on the extra large screen, especially when the sound is well set up at the venue. Not possible to build such a large cinema room without the one who must be obeyed, not to notice. Big Grin
