Is it 'coz I is Banned?

Posted by: JeremyD on 30 July 2005

Is PFM down or is my inability to access it something to do with the fact that I have just been banned? [I want to contact one of the moderators in order to lodge a complaint but I cannot find a contact email address].

Why is you banned ?
Posted on: 30 July 2005 by JeremyD
Mick,
I think it's probably best to avoid bringing the conflict over here, so I'd prefer it if you went to PFM and looked.

Robert gave his reason for banning me, and I will be writing to him to make a case against the ban - that is, if I can find out how to contact him...

Jeremy

I have been banned from the Mana forum and quite frankly could not give a tinkers cuss.

Why sacrifice your dignity in trying to get back into a forum.

Just say sod it and move on.

Mick

Mick,
Thanks for the thought. I have no intention of returning to PFM but I think it would be remiss of me to let things stand. The issue in question is not simply a personal one.

Not so much "sent to Coventry" as "sent to Swindon"?

With the former everybody ignores you. Roll Eyes

With the latter nobody can ignore you! Big Grin

Jeremy

JW of Mana banned me three times and then invited me back back in on each occassion.

Going back in was a mistake for both parties. He looked foolish and inconsistent for changing his mind and I looked weak for going back in.

He has declined to invite me back in after ban number 4 and I have a lot more respect for him now than of before.

The decision has been made. Life goes on and at the end of the day, a forum is only a bloody forum. There are more important things in life.

Just forget about it and confine it to the annals of history.

Mick

Mick,
Thank you for that. I'm tempted to take your advice, since there are other things I would rather be doing, by far. However, I have to do what I think is appropriate.

I now have Tony's email address, so I don't forsee any need for further comment here.

Mick,

Why was you banned?

"Why was I banned"

Because I said two things.

a) The Mana stealth and ECS power amps were more or less the same product in different boxes.

b) Neither could hold a candle to the NAP300.

Ten minutes later I was ejected.

I seem to remember it differently.....

I thought it was because you said something like "the ECS amps were poo in comparision to the Mana Stealth"

My experience tells me that the NAP500 can't hold a candle to the Mana Stealth.

Politics and all that, it's the way you tell 'em & not the stories in themselves you tell.

Barnie aint banned from Mana despite not liking the (I'll shut up right now.)

In the context of this thread, the above is unlikely to prompt him to get the axe out Roll Eyes

They seem a bit over-sensitive over there. People seem able to criticise Naim stuff with impunity over here, and discuss other equipment which they prefer. Must admit I've never hung out on the Mana forum.

The ban was rescinded. Sanity prevailed. The PFM moderation team are to be commended for being big enough to correct an erroneous decision.

Dear Tarquin,

I'll reply to this on PF where it belongs.

Last time I looked (2 weeks ago) the Mana Forum seemed to have died a death anyway.

Barnie

I said the the Mana Stealth and the ECS were virtually the same inside and the only difference was the case. I did not say one was poo compared to the other because they are basically the same.

I was also having a discussion with a then prominent Mana forum member who was trying to persuade me to buy Mana instead of the NAP300.

I then said that the NAP300 was much better and in between all that, I was ejected.

The ban has never been recinded and neither should it be. If a Moderator bans someone and lets them back in a few weeks later it looks plain stupid.

Life goes on with or without forum membership.

Hmm, very poor taste, given the other discussions on this thread, and recent events.

I also received a ban from PFM as I dare to reply in a "Chinese-stylee" to a thread that suggested that high-end products can be the same when manufactured cheaply in the far east. My post was intended to be humorous, and was receiveed as such by other posters.......

I contested this highlighting the many anit-Scots tyhreads that appeared on said forum and the apparent inconsistency of the moderation of the SAME thread.

PC gone mad ? Thank goodness we have Adam !
