Ash Stands

Posted by: Ade Archer on 07 February 2001

Hi All,

The last thing I want to do is start another stand debate, so all I'm asking is does anyone else use Ash Design stands, as I recently obtained a 5 tier rack second hand, which I'm very happy with.
I don't recall them getting a mention here since I've been using the forum.

I use an Ash stand. (To my eyes) brilliant looks, excellent build quality - for a very reasonable price. To my ears the sound quality left a lot to be desired. The addition of (now) 8 sets of Pulsar Points completely transforms the sound (2 sets of 3 points under both CD transport and turntable, one set under each of DAC, preamp, supercap and power amp) transforms the sound quality. I paid £240 for the pulsar points, so this is not a silly investment. I note that Vuk had no luck with Pulsar Points, but I do not know in what circumstance he used them; all I know is that they work brilliantly on Ash.

Dave,

No, no, no.

You obviously don't have your computer and monitor on phase 3 - it has much more substance then. big grin

Hey James,

No need to beat me up with a phase 4 table you know!

I really hope Mana can demonstrate to me at Bristol what all the fuss is about. - I'd actually quite like to discover something capable of turning my Gyrodec into an Orbe!

Let's wait and see, I am however predisposed to be a doubting Thomas when anyone tells me there is only one true path. Priests and prophets have been trying that one for years!

Jonathan,

Sadly, I believe that Mana are not exhibiting this time at Bristol - mainly due to their move to Wales taking up so much of their time.

According to several Manaics, Hi-Fi shows are not conducive to Mana demonstrations - maybe the reason why they sounded glassy and brittle with each of the 3 demos I went to. Or maybe because they're crap anyway wink
