no music

my wife is re-doing the house, and as a consequence, i will have no music for a week. i can't listen to music not naim, so i have no recourse.

what a crappy week :-(

Sometimes for me words are secondary...but not always. Depends on the song. My ears are geared for the midrange, unless it's an opera diva going full tilt, then I thrive on a high note.

Still thinking of Latifah, I know a lot of people who, if reading your post, would instantly write you off and pay no more attention to anything out of you. I had that inclincation for a split second, then caught myself. After all, you did come around to Pollini.

As for Coltrane, I think the lyrics there, it's just not sung....

i think if they feel that way, then it's better for all concerned if they pay no attention. No skin off my nose :-)

i'm following my ears, not someone else's preferences. more music gets into my head that way. for me, that's the point.

meanwhile, i'll continue doing everything i can to improve the quality of my musical perception.
the sight singing lessons are doing some good i think, and practice is going well.
