Do You Like Whole Boiled Onions?

These are something I find about as nausea-inducing as vomit itself, but some people insist that it is me who is wrong to dislike them so.

They love them, are lovers of food, and therefore project onto me their own view, and say I am wrong ...

Anyone else have a least favourite food?

OK so WTF is broiling?

Big,

Really? Oven with heat coming from the top rather than the bottom. It approximates an upside down grille.

It would be how one makes toast in the oven or "broiler".

Typically used with a "broiling pan" and used to cook steaks in the oven..... upside down grille.

Usually used on highest setting the oven will go to.

Most dials here in the US, say "100, 200", 250, 350, 400, 450, BROIL" etc....

Or are you just "winding me up" as I think you guys say it?

If "we" make toast in the oven we use the grill.
An element at the top of the oven.

I am assuming when "you" say grill you mean grill as in BBQ?

This is no wind up , just same language, different interpretation. Smile

Big,

It sounds like broiler for us, is a grill for you.

A grill for us, is typically outside. Some call it a BBQ but that is a bit of a misnomer. A real BBQ is a smoker with little heat. A grill is simply a grate with fire underneath. Think Propane Gas grills (often inside), or charcoal grills.

You can grill on a grill, or BBQ on the grill. BBQ=Smoke, ALWAYS. Using a grill with wood, or wood chips means you are barbecuing.

You grill hotdogs, hamburgers, steaks etc....
You BBQ (hopefully) ribs, brisket, pork shoulders, etc..

I guess it is confusing.

Over here BBQ is a cooking method as well as a style of food.

A grill is a thing outside and a cooking method.

Broiler is a kind of chicken and setting on the oven.
