Extract from the forum rules.
'As a member you can make posts – these can be edited for some 45 minutes but cannot (as a peculiarity of the software) be deleted.
If you are unhappy with a post – please edit it down to “PD” (Please Delete) and I will delete it when/if I see it'.
Not me of course but a moderator.

I cant tell you how many times I have spent a half hour writing, only to cancel, rewrite, cancel and then just throw in the towel altogether with out making a single post.

Dear John, same with me. I press the close icon rather than post perhaps a quarter of the time. No loss results ...
Sometimes I realise all I have done is write a pointless rant ...
This is no judgement on anyone else, I hasten to add!
Sometimes I still regret what I actually have posted ...
In one case I begged to have a whole thead I started, deleted, and fortunately it was.
The Forum is open, but this very open-ness brings its possibility of hanging one's self on self-made rope ...
