Origin Live Mods

Posted by: Not For Me on 12 March 2002

I have a look at Terry's links and followed the Origin Live one.

Has anyone had experience of thier LP12 motor / and other mods.

The best tonearm in the world is a modified Rega apparently.

As Snap would say, is a case of "don't believe the hype"?

I recently heard an OL Silver 250 and I did like it. Noticably better than the standard Rega arm. But not an Aro beater - as I can testify, now that I recently got an Aro (can you tell I'm still excited!).

I mainly felt that for the price, the finish was rather poor. Also, for the price, I think an off-centre counterweight (like the Expressimo Heavyweight) should be included. Lastly, the price of the Silver 250 is awfully close to where used Aro's and Ekos's appear, albeit not too often.

I think you're rather better off with your Ekos and Ittok, isn't it, David?

Yup,

I'm happy with my Ittok and Ekos, but I was thinking more of thier turntable motor mods.

The dc motor replacement for the Lingo / ac motor has me wondering.... Is there anything in their claims ?

Somebody must have tried this or heard it (Other than Origin Live)

There is a chap who has put a dc motor into his LP12 and he says that it lowered the noise floor measurably.

Frank.
