Summer tracks

Some songs just capture the feel of summer for me, and as it's a hot day, I'm searching for those songs that make me feel that summer is really here to stay. Those songs that make me think of lying in the grass, or on the beach with the hot sun beating down.
For me:
Royksopp - A Higher Place
Swervedriver - Duel
Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
Monkees - Pleasant Valley Sunday
Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

I spent yesterday's balmy summer evening on the settee with a cold beer and Terry Reid's 'Seed of Memory', bluesy-folky-jazzy-funky. Perfect, an underrated gem.
I also like nothing better than to spend a lazy, hot afternoon in the company of K.D. Lang's 'Ingenue'.

Hot August Night - Neil Diamond Live Concert and heard by me for the first time on a hot August night in Oslo in company with a lovely french girlfriend on the first high-end hifi I had ever listened to. One of the best live recordings ever and has great sentimental value for me.

Not so much a track as the whole album. Reminds me of balmy evenings on Paxos.

Terry Reid's 'River' (also a classic along with Seed of Memory) and any of Giles Peterson's mixes are made for hot summer days.

What a delightful thread!
It has sent me once again, with enthusiasm renewed, to my late uncle's record collection, and particularly his pile of vintage 45's.
Tracks I have particularly enjoyed include:
Andy Williams, Music to Watch Girls by
Noel Coward, Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Poor Little Rich Girl
and Charles Trenet, Le Mer and Boum (side b of which includes a track backed by Django Reinhardt and the Quintette of the Hot Club).
I shall enjoy working my way through the rest of the 45s this summer - and I recall there are some corkers.
But in the summer, I also particularly enjoy Les Negresses Vertes' first album, Mlah. When it gets its annual outing it means summer has come, as it has done every year since 1989. (It might even get more than one outing!)

If we are going that route then
Ku Klux Klan - Steel Pulse
Sunshine Day - Osibisa (who once played in a semi next door to where I lived in Coventry, what a party - but that's another story!)

anyone here got 'The Trip', by St Ettiene - a wonderful mix of summery cheese, with the unforgettable 'I won't let that chump break your heart' which I think is by 'Spunky and our gang'
Gotta be summer, eh ?
