Am I going crazy or has the BBC web site been unavailable for two days to anybody eles?

Since I can get here to post this I assume it is not a problem with my end.

Geoff,
I can view it OK, it hasn't been a problem as far as I'm aware.

Think it might be my dutch server is not recognizing ".co.uk" all of a sudden, can't seem to go to any sites like that only ".com" and so on.

Strange

Have you tried a different browser?

Just "bbc" is enough in Google. You don't need anything else and it always comes top of the list.

I expect that you are just a bit late paying this year's licence fee.

What computer to do you have?

Try ping http://www.bbc.co.uk[/I] and www.bbc.com if they show the same IP address then something is wrong with your DNS settings. You may be pointing to a DNS server that is not resolving properly. I think www.bbc.co.uk should be 212.58.224.84 and www.bbc.com should be 212.58.224.123.

(If you have a PC rather than a Mac then you may need ping -a)

Alternatively, if you are using a proxy then that may be at fault.

If the DNS is ok then try clearing your cache.

Let me know how you get on.

Sorry I don't know why the posting shows http:// in my ping statements - it must be something that gets put in automatically when I post. It should not be there

Thanks for the help. I will check it when I get home.
I am getting there via a proxy server and by late last night I had a tried a few .co.uk sites and had the same problem. I use a cable modem via the local digital service which does TV & telephone aswell and I am trying to talk to them.

It was the DNS setting. Somehow my DNS had changed itself. The support guy at the cable co. gave me the DNS numbers and after I poked them into the settings everything was back.
Thanks for youre advice.

You're very welcome. It is posible for a program or ActveX control to change settings on your computer. Glad the problem is solved and your able to get to the BBC again.
