Sarah Palin - A True (AIP) Republican

Is this what happens when McCain Googles for a running mate?
Oh Happy families
Alaskan Independence
Pregnant unmarried school age daughter - oh the shame of it
................ and that's without the ethics investigation.
Obama must be smiling at this bunch of Cowboys
Any thoughts?

Obama reckons the press should keep out of the candidates' families' lives. I tend to agree. I feel for the daughter of Palin - that her pregnancy is an international news story is somehow quite wrong.

I tend to also agree particularly with children. I would imagine Palin would have understood that would happen and they would sift thought the minutia of her life before she agreed to go for potential VP.

She's ok with basking in her son's patriotism, but when it comes to her daughter's behavior, it's hands-off.
She shouldn't get to have it both ways - if children are off limits, she should adhere to that if she expects anyone else to do likewise.

Agreed, Deane F.
I feel that John McCain et al were, apparently, fully aware of her daughter's pregnency before choosing her as a running mate. I believe that they saw this as a possible bonus that could help their cause at best or be a non issue at worst. We shall see.

Who would have thought that the Dems would have made the "sensible" choice in VP?
A strange year and I really miss Tim Russert's commentary. RIP Tim.

A VP candidate younger and more experienced than Obama.

She's a little bit younger, but I'm not sure that being mayor of Wasilla, Alaska even counts as a full time job.
As for the daughter, trying to spin her pregnancy into an advantage is like trying to put lipstick on a greased pig. The Republicans are putting on a brave front, though.
If Johnny Mac is elected, I predict that the redneck boyfriend will get a hockey scholarship. He'll be the only person to benefit from the fiasco.

Being a governor of Alaska counts much more than a community organiser.

Steve Bell is THE Man

Not a Sarah Palin cartoon but I love this Steve Bell. Apparently after doing about a million caricatures of Bush he got to see him in the flesh this week at the convention, his drawings are via here.

If being governor of Alaska counts as "executive experience" the way the Republicans are claiming, I suppose that means the Mayor of Fort Worth, Texas is even more qualified than Palin (and McCain, Obama, and Biden for that matter). He's been an "executive" for 5 years now, and Fort Worth has more people and a bigger budget than Alaska. Describing Palin as qualified really dilutes the definition of qualified.
Mike Moncrief for President! He's got the executive experience America needs.

More experienced than obama, you must be high. he is a us senator from illinois, this is not the mayor of a podunk town or governor of rural state. she believes in creationism? please, please no more rednecks in washington. anyone who thinks this woman is ready to vp of the US is seriously delusional. she received her first passport in 2007? wtf? my money says she will be off the ticket within 2 weeks, which unfortuantely will be good for the republican ticket. these misguide souls who can't acknowledge poor decision making will be the first lemmings to the next vp mccain will pick. I eagerly await how they will spin it. "Palin forced to bail out do to abusive liberal media invasion of her private life." If only her own judgement had exceeded her vain ambition, i might have a touch of respect for her. But then, she kills bears, so nothing is off limits. i look forward to hearing how the ability to field dress a freshly killed moose translates to being a qualified negotiator with foreign governments.

I'm not saying it, the Republicans are. Judge their sobriety as you see fit.

Hey folks in the USA, it's never a dull moment with your elections. It's pretty much the same with our Prime Minister
Gordon Brown, texture like Sun. Never a Frown with Gordon Brown.

Ahh, gotcha.
It is quite eye-opening to learn what qualifies as "qualified" these days. Dark times.
