Sarah Palin - A True (AIP) Republican

Is this what happens when McCain Googles for a running mate?
Oh Happy families
Alaskan Independence
Pregnant unmarried school age daughter - oh the shame of it
................ and that's without the ethics investigation.
Obama must be smiling at this bunch of Cowboys
Any thoughts?

Young Bristol must be kicking herself. Look at how well the Bush girls have ridden the wave. Likewise the Gore daughters. Chelsea is an international consultant. Cheney's daughter has a six-figure sinecure as his Wyoming campaign manager.
Bristol is going to be wiping baby butts in Wasilla.

Dreadful, isn't she. The irony is that God wouldn't make such stupid people.

This really is a very sad election.
1. Sad because the standard of candidates is abysmal.
2. Sad because the election is completely dumbed down to razz-mat-tazz. Where are the policies in detail ?
3. Sad because the great American public seem daft enough to go along with it.
3. Sad because the most competent politician(Clinton) has been kicked out.
This really is a very sad reflection on the entire Amreican system.

Mick

It is also very sad because it reflects the complete lack of responsible journalism that now exists. And I do not mean the so-called gutter journalism ala Rudy Giuliani. There is no real analysis any more of issues or impacts of policies. Instead we get spin, poll results (more spin), discussion of momentum (more spin redux), and who can find the most spectacular dirt on a candidate. It is hard to sift through the BS and get the real info when the major media outlets are not providing it.

I thought Obama did the right thing by taking the high road in response to the disclosure of Palin's daughter's pregnancy. After all, as he said, his own mother was 18 when she gave birth to him.
What's great is that there is no chapter in the Rovian playbook for dealing with a gentlemanly, high road response ... "Wait, he's not making a big deal out of this? What do we do now?!"
And I agree with Obama, it shouldn't be an issue ... except that Palin is a proponent of the abstinence-only method, with no access to other forms of real world birth control. That, clearly, is a problem.

At least half of all Americans (and many millions around the world) strongly disagree. In fact, they are extremely happy that we might finally have some blessed relief from the travesty perpetrated over the last eight years.
Happy because the standard of one of the candidates is so high.
Happy because at least half (and hopefully more in the coming weeks) of the American public is smart enough to recognize it.
This is a very favorable reflection on the American system.
All best,
Fred

In Palin's own words, "We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby". The ability of all other women in America to make that decision for themselves is something Palin (a rabid pro-lifer) would actively legislate against. But she seems happy her daughter had the privilege she would deny others.
Hypocrisy and elitism have a new face.

I couldn't agree more.
And how I wish we'd call those who believe as she does by a more accurate description: "anti-choice."
Let's get real ... no one is "pro-abortion," and everyone is "pro-life." The proper terms are "pro-choice" and "anti-choice."

The average American really is far more qualified to be President than Mr. Obama because the average American works for a living and has actual responsibilities. I think that's important for a President. Mr. Obama, a lawyer and "community organizer" - whatever that is - has never worked a day in his life and couldn't manage a chip shop.
To be the leader of the free world, you really need to have done something, anything, worthy of respect beyond talking and writing about yourself ad nauseam. Barrack Hussein Obama II's primary accomplishment in his life is that he wrote a couple books about himself and Oprah Winfrey liked them. That just doesn't cut it with most folks.

That is a rather grandiose subtitle for any US president. Just to be perfectly clear, let me say that George W Bush has not been a leader of any fucking thing in my section of the free world. God forbid.

...er, well according to Wikipedia he taught law for 12 years, worked as a lawyer (associate then counsel) from 1993 to 2004 was elected to the illinois senate in 1996 and the US senate in 2005. Some of them sound like jobs to me.
Since we are throwing stones here John Sidney McCain II's biography (I enclose his middle name because I think these things are so important) shows that he has been in the Navy then an adviser on military matters and a congressman. So he appears not to have had a 'normal' job on civvy street. I don't know if he could manage a chip shopbut he seems to have difficulty keeping count of the number of homes he owns... (cheap shot, I know).
Does it matter?

Heh, whose decision?!!
Since the size and growth rate of the human population is the single greatest threat to the habitability of the planet over the next few decades, this arseholish attitude to knocking babies out and hanging the consequences gets on my tits immeasurably. These fuckers should be smeared in jam and exposed to angry wasps.
I'm with Parry on this one - fuckwit candidates whose cringesome posturings are being applauded by morons.

I can't remember the last time I thought any candidate from any party was actually qualified for VP or Pres.
The "vetting" process used by the GOP to select and verify her as a candidate must be quite interesting. The checklist is obvious.
Its not like they had to search high and low through the well-heeled wealthy class to find a qualified virgin to marry the prince...
I'll get my coat.
