Sold my first photo!

Well, via an agency it's my first.
I took this at practice for the first A1 GP meeting at Brands last September. Adam Khan in the Pakistan car. $178 for a 4Mb pic!
10 of those and I can buy a Canon 100-400 L IS lens!

Is that shot with a v long lens and extremely shallow depth of field? I wonder how you got the driver so sharp compared to the rest of the car.
Autofocus is a wonderful thing but you did pretty well to get the 'spot' exactly on his head.

I was thinking about the sharpness as well. My guess is that Tony must have done some photoshopping since there is no clear plane of focus, I would have thought that the 'thingy' in front of the left rear wheel should have been in focus too otherwise.
Really good pic, PS or no PS! Congratulations on the sale!

Jacob

well done, Tony - really nice shot!
How did you sell it, and did you completely reassign rights, copyright - how does all this work?
best

Excellent stuff, more like that and it'd make a good calendar.

Nice photo Tony, but if you sold the rights, you might be in breach by posting it here!

Ok,
Thanks for the comments, now for some answers.
The only photoshopping was some tidying up and level adjustments. No layers or artificial blurring.
I used my EOS 20D with a 28-300mm lens, set to somewhere near 180mm (equiv. to 290mm ish)f5.6, 1/350th and ISO 200.
I think the plane of focus goes through the front left wheel/tyre which is blurred by rotation.
My pics are with www.alamy.com. This particular pic is royalty free, and I've looked high and low through the small print for restrictions on my own usage but I can't find anything.

Thought I'd throw a photo in for good measure. I took this (with new toy, Nikon D200) in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago. Looks a bit blocky at this resolution...
