Hope it's a better game than that disgrace of a FA Cup Final.

It doesn’t have the same significance as winning the original European cup.
If the fourth best side in England can win the competition, what does it say about the competition.

I did not watch the game, (thought it more productive to plant out the rest of the runner beans) but always felt that Milan who put away Man United with ease in the semis, would be just too good for Liverpool this time around.
Not been a great year for the red half of Liverpool. Am I bovered? Nah.

Actually this wasn't quite the case tonight, Roger. Liverpool had the better of the first half and a lucky deflection from a free kick put them in front right on half-time. This is what changed the game, I think, as Liverpool lost a little composure and Milan were able to counter as the game became a little more stretched.

neil warnock summed it up i think.
when interviewed after relegation he said WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.
in his eyes liverpool fielded a reserve side against fulham which spared them. man u although not as bad put out a weakened side against the hammers - 1st half especially.
these clubs both lost in finals, so maybe theres a touch of justice there. although i like to see british clubs do well in europe i tend to think he has a point !
up the hammers .

WHU stayed up because they played to survive and out performed all the other teams in the relegation zone

Good if WHU can sign Scot Parker for next season.

Chelsea bought Scot Parker at the time they bought anything that had two legs.
He was a better buy and played with passion and pride, he is wasted in Newcastle.
I wish I could say that about some of the current Chelsea team, Mr Ajen Roben just to mention one, is the complete opposite of that mentality.
I am rather sorry that Charlton went down, they have always been a solid team over the years, but I am sure they will be back.

Flyfisher,
Would you care to elaborate on this statement? The bit about being wasted in Newcastle that is.

The geordies are possibly the most passionate of the premiere leagues supporters, but if only their teams played with the same conviction and passion.
What an underwhelming season they had, the manager lost his job, should have performed far better. You need 5-6 Scot Parkers in your team.
I can't believe NU would get rid of him, so he must have wanted to go. West Ham generaly play as a team, and I am sure he would like to be back in London, and would be a perfect player for them.
This is only my opinion, I have NO axe to grind with Newcastle.
You are unfortunate in having a certain Mr F Shepperd overall in charge- should be on the stage as a second rate comedian- the club deserves better!

Flyfisher,
Yes we have had a poor season, and teamwork has been an issue, except when we seem to raise our game against someone like Chelsea, Arsenal or Man U but cannot do the same against Man City, Blackburn or Portsmouth at home.
Scotty did get some barracking from certain sections of the ground when doing his one legged pirouettes in the centre circle, but not from me, there were usually few options open to him.
Chatting to one of the five-a-side lads tonight, who is a local journalist, it does seem it is a home sickness issue as much as anything else. I will be sorry to see him go (if he does) especially as it looks like Joey Barton may be being lined up. Scotty was a honest player, who was obviously carrying an injury by the end of the season, and was not able to give his best during the latter games.
Shepherd may be having his last hurrah, just depends how much it takes to lever him out.
As ever we live in interesting times.

Here is hoping that you have a much better season next year (except when you are playing Chelsea).
Joey Barton ....well a talented and passionate player, liked what I heard when he was on the BBC Question of Sport, but he has a real mental streak in him.

Joey Barton is very talented, but I can't make the guy out - one moment I see him hacked down and then get up shake hands and ask the Ref not to book his opponent, but then he has a fight with his team-mate. If the controlled JB was playing at Newcastle then he'd be an asset.
Is Titus staying or going? He has so much potential and natural ability, but can he learn to concentrate for 90 minutes.
Dyer is still a great player if he can stay fit.

ROFT,
My understanding was that Titus was definitely on his way regardless, but no one has signed him so far, Portmouth deal fell through.
You are right he was a colossus at times and a liability the next. Dyer has taken a lot more out of Newcastle than he has put in. To be honest, despite his ability not many fans would be sorry to see him go.
Regarding Barton, I think many will view him as another player like Bowyer, perhaps too much baggage. To be fair to Bowyer, apart from the scrap with Dyer and various speeding offences he kept his nose clean, and out of the local papers.
