A real original. His love of the language stands out for me, and his delight playing with it.
Four candles, fork handles etc etc

A sad day for all lovers of comedy.

He was part of my upbringing. It's very sad.

One of the best actors ever and a first class writer of comedy.
He'll be sadly missed - there is not enough good comedy around these days.

I'll light 4 candles or should that be Fork handles?
Why do the funny ones of a partnership go first?
I'll miss him.
RIP Ronnie

RIP Ronnie, I reckon that nearly every UK resident over 30 will have laughed at one of his jokes at some time.

Loved the puns and general wordplay of the Two Ronnies but for me Porridge was his crowning glory. My then future in-laws were prison officers so I spent a lot of my time mixing with characters straight out of Porridge. It was regarded by them as the most accurate portrayal of prison life ever seen and was the most popular show in the Barlinnie Prison Officers Club. My father-in-law's best friend could have been a model for Mr MacKay.
All wonderful stuff and thank goodness it's all there for posterity.
Goodnight Ronnie.

I think Ronnie Barker was the best proof that you could be outrageously funny without having to resort to four lettered humour.
A very talented man who like all professionals made everything look dead easy when in reality it was near to genious level.
We need more like him and he will be missed.
Regards
Mick

Here here
Does anybody remember Ronnie Barker as Lord Rustless of Chrome Hall?
I think it was called Hark at Barker and was quite wonderful.

For me one of his finest roles was as Norman Stanley Fletcher.
Now he's off to join his old cell-mate Godper in heaven's very own Slade Prison, and where he can renew acquaintances with his old adversary McKay, whom he can now annoy for ever and ever....
Amen.
Rest easy, and in peace, Ron.
Cheers,
Jon
