HDX Hang over!
Posted by: jayv on 14 October 2009
Hi,
I am using the HDX through my home network router (LINKSYS),accessing the player using my IE browser and it was working fine.
When i powered off and on, and started the Desktop Client, the Naim set IP tool asked to update the IP and i choose the static IP address and updated the player. Ever since the player does not boot, it hangs by displaying the Naim logo and "Starting..."
Also the player is no longer visible on the home network, though it is wired in through the ethernet cable.
Can any one help in resolving this issue?
I tried soft and hard power off and on...
tried booting with the Ethernet cable unplugged..

was it set to DHCP?
I am guessing that your router is assigning DHCP.
reset the player back to DHCP.
If you cant you need to contact your dealer or distributor.

The HDX requires two addresses, one for the front panel and one for the server itself–chances are you will require retailer or distributor intervention to resolve.

If you need to reset the IP addresses and set-up as Dave suggests, in the long run it seems to be better to set it up with static addresses outside the range of your DHCP connected equipment. Set this up using the Naim setup IP tool software.
You do need some information from your router and from your computer such as gateway and DNS.
The router information you need is your DHCP range and to set static IP addresses ABOVE this.
To determine the rest of the info you need, on your computer:
start-->run-->cmd-->hit ok
When window pops up: type ipconfig--> hit enter
You'll get the rest of the info you need to do the setup:
Gateway, DNS, Net mask
Should take about 5 minutes.

Thanks Guys.I did try few more things...
Connected a VGA Monitor and Mouse. The display to the VGA is fine. I am able to use the HDX through this mode...
The system status shows that the IP settings are mixed up and probably will require a "reset". Dont know how to do that.
As of now, i am not able to access the HDX over the ethernet/router and hence could not use the NAIM Set IP tool.
Have sent the system status snap shots to the retailer and awaiting revert from him..
Will update this thread in case some one else lands up with the same issue...

Try turning everything off and then turn in HDX first then router and last everything else. If you're having an IP address conflict, this should fix it. If it's something else, your dealer should sort it out.
