Rock Goes to College?
John, from the music you've played me so far, I never took for a Police fan.

Oh yes indeed James.
I was enjoying a blast of 'Regatta de Blanc' the other evening. That particular track has the hallmark of a spontaneous energy fuelled, studio jam.
Their early stuff was really innovative. I still remember hearing 'Message in a Bottle' for the first time, in glorious AM on the car radio around 1979, and being utterly gob-smacked by it.

I was listening to Outlandos D'Amour a few weeks ago for the first time in a long time, musing how I used to be worried my parents would come into the room when "be my girl" was on - and now hoping my children didn't come in when it was on!
Strangely they are now seen as "classic rock" when as you mention John they were very innovative and had a fresh new sound in 77/78. We have a new "alternative " radio station in Dublin (Phantom FM) and while I have heard the Jam on them they would never play the Police.

Some really great stuff - love "Spirits in the Material World".
You know you have a good system if it keeps that together at coil melting volumes!
Has anyone tried the remastered live album?
Steve.
