Is the Segway the new C5?

Posted by: Deane F on 29 October 2006

I have seen a few of these "human transporters" around the streets and in the park - which I assume is the result of a local entrepreneur offering "tours" on the things. They look kinda fun, and I wouldn't mind having a go on one, it's just that I wouldn't want anybody to see me.

Aside from the price (which in NZ is more than a CDX2) is this nerd factor the reason that they haven't taken off?

Are they common on British footpaths? Perhaps the Naim factory tours are taken on Segways?

Do any Forum members own a Segway?

Perhaps Mrs Mick has desires on a new Segway Human Transporter?

I see quite a few of them in DC doing tours. I've seen the police on them also, but only once (in Union Station). There's a new model coming out apparently - not sure what the improvements are though...

I took this in Chicago last year. No-one seemed to take any notice.
