sure it is. http://www.appleinsider.com/ar...teardown_photos.html I've only said nice things about Macbooks here. Not nice enough? After rechecking I found it was the standard $1000 Macbook and that they are now a polycarbonite unibody like the exterior cover of my Lenovo(mag alloy frame) and no longer aluminium. That's where the confusion is. The current Pro you picture is still all aluminium and as you pointed out many times, excellent. My second pic is the older model but shows the construction nicely and is a unibody though not as current as your pic. Merry Christmas to you an yours.quote:Originally posted by garyi:
JS is its the best built laptop bar none, point me at a current model one of any manufacturer that is better built?
Your first picture is also not a unibody.

And most bits are similarly sized so options would exist but I can replace my optical drive, hard drive or battery(bits that wear out) without disassembly or service for instance. Everything is tradeoffs. My Lenovo weighs a pound or 2 more for example and I'd prefer it didn't. Happy Xmas, Jon.quote:Originally posted by jon honeyball:
I'm not sure I can agree with the "lessons the options". Given that each unibody is milled from solid, changes can be done on a per-sample basis. Compare that with trying to change out plastic formers, for example, where you really will need to do a run of each one before a change.

JS, its not a unibody, the macbook air was the first unibody. The macbook air does not have a dvd slot, your second pictures is an old G4 laptop which is not a unibody construction it has many parts which are screwed together. A unibody is milled from a single piece of aluminium.
Sorry to carry on about this, but concede defeat you are wrong on this one.

Got it here. http://www.appleinsider.com/ar...view_with_video.html Perhaps they're showing an older model as comparison. I'll defer on the 2nd pic as I'm certainly not a Macbook expert.
