All in One printers

Posted by: BigH47 on 08 June 2005

Any one using a printer/scaner/fax combo?
We have an Epson stylus colour 880 and Agfa snapscan e25 and were wondering about changing to a combo.Mainly to save space on the desk, but because also the Epson refuses to print every now and then. It either stops half way through a job or goes all stripey.
I have heard that the HP printers have the print head in with the ink reservoir and are more reliable as a result.
Not too bothered with the Fax bit.

Any comments?

TIA

Isn't one only allowed to ask this question three times a year or is it three times a month John? Mind you it does seem an awfully long time since it was last asked, at least a fortnight I tally ?

I think that the concept of all-in-ones is great. I have an Epson Stylus 6400 and, other than the fact that it doesn't print because the heads keep clogging up, it's wonderful. Roll Eyes I suspect that this is an Epson problem rather than an all-in-one-problem.

Epson does seem to suffer from head clogs.

Fritz sorry if I'm boring you. I should have done a search before posting. It would have saved you the massive strain of having to look at this quetion again.Perhaps you could start a dozen different threads about it? Eh?

Why thank you, that's a good idea, and no; you're not boring me at all at all, we are all seemingly free to write whatever we want and as often as we so desire, so question away and I trust you and 7up find a mutual head, innit.

Howard,

I'm in the market for an all-in-one jobby meself. I'm hearing a lot of good things about Hewlett-Packard printers at the moment. Here's an example:-

We've got an HP 3030 in the office and it seems pretty good.

The Epson print head system is shit. Plain and simple. You waste half a tank of ink every time you switch the printer on, and after about 30 pages from brand new the print quality trails off significantly.

I feel for my dad - even though he swears the Stylus 670 he has is OK, I can remember wanting to smash it up with a hammer, and felt like a git for giving it to him even though it WAS free!

An HP all-in-one might well be good, but be warned - in my experience their scanners are good - but terminally slow to warm up.

Their printers on the other hand are great! I got given a 690C for free (hence why dad got my Epson castoff) and it's been great. I'd definitely consider another one.

When will a colour LASER home MFD come out???

My wife just bought a Canon Pixma MP780. The software is a bit Micky Mouse but it's a very easy to use combo capable of high quality results. And it prints CDs - as I discovered this morning - so that's a few hundred quid more profit for me from my last project. It's nice when they pay for themselves.

Highly recommended - but no experience yet on how long they last.
